2003 Honda Civic EX 2dr Coupe (1.7L 4cyl 5M)

Review

I've got a 2003 honda civic ex coupe totally gas engine 1.7 L 5 speed i've got about $200 worth of upgrades in it, trust me its totally worth it.. I'm getting avg 44 mpg on the highway and 37 in the city, it's got a cold air intake with a ram air inductor new exhaust, came stock with 2 mufflers, now it has one straight pipe with one straight muffler, plus a small performance chip, i go within 3mph of the speed limit and when I'm coming up on a stop or going down hill i kick it into neutral. i can get between 550 and 650 miles per fill up depending on how i'm driving, i always fill up b4 the gas light comes one

Favorite Features

Suggested Improvements

replace the exhaust system, put a cold air intake with a ram air inductor and an Intake Air Temperature sensor chip, it'll cost around 200 for everything but the money you save in gas is well worth it

2003 Honda Civic EX 2dr Coupe (1.7L 4cyl 5M)

Review

I had my Honda Civic for 5 years but just recently sold it so I could get a 4 door (got little kids). The car was very, very reliable and I only had a little over 51,000 miles on it. I never had any mechanical problems with it the whole time (knock on wood). I always changed the oil (myself) every 5,000 miles and made sure to change Air Filter (15,000 miles). I made sure to check the tires monthly as well. I got anywhere from 32-33 mpg around town with some highway driving. For straight highway trips I averaged around 36 on the last one. If you take care of this little baby it will take care of you. If you decide to sell your Civic, sell it out right as the dealerships will hose you.

Favorite Features

The color, style, very sporty looking. Had a lot of get and go.

Suggested Improvements

Seats weren't comfortable on long rides compared to the Accord. Would suggest they use that type.

I have 180000 miles. Changed all fluids religiously. Had to replace clutch, transmission in Feb 08' and now IMA battery dying. $7000 worth of repairs. Very bad engineering solution for folks who care about the environment. Stay away from this vehicle...

Favorite Features

Not much when it only has a 180,000 mile life cycle.

Suggested Improvements

New design for clutch, transmission..

My husband and I bought this car back in 2002. It has been terrific and has had no problems! We are so glad we had foresight to buy a hybrid. It's really fun to drive because you can see how your driving effects your MPG (although it can be a bit stressful at times, too). We will probably never buy a non-hybrid/non-alternative energy car again.

Favorite Features

The gauge showing the current MPG and the other gauge that shows whether you're using gas or electric.

2003 Honda Civic Si 2dr Hatchback (2.0L 4cyl 5M)

Review

I'm from Canada and bought Canada version of si hatch. Bought the car in August of 07, it's an 03. Nice car with lots of room had 3 people and snowboards inside. Would definitely recommend. Horn cut out about a month ago along with Cruise control. Brakes are great and so is handling. Stock rims could be bigger/nicer, I got aftermarket rubber and rims. Ground fx package is nice. Drives good in all weather, sunroof is good. Recommend winter tires. This is a great car with sporty handling, keep revs high and car is plenty fast. Great on gas and sound system is great for stock. Don't think I will ever buy anything other then a Honda. Car takes real

Favorite Features

shifter, interior space, sunroof, seats and steering wheel are by far the best part of this car

Suggested Improvements

A 200 hp engine would be nice (same as RSX type s not base RSX), bigger stock rims, lumbar adjustment for seat, armrest and second power adapter

I can't complain about this car at all. I even wanted to pay for my sales person's rotary fines for him. It is such a great car, especially if you know how to maximize the MPG. My average is about 50. I am ordering a sticker that says "60 MPH = 50 MPG". I am also ordering a sticker that says "Relax: U R in the Carpool Lane" for those who try to go 80 in the Carpool lane. To get better MPG, avoid using your brakes, i.e., don't rush up to that red light and brake! We can all save 10% or more by driving reasonably.

Favorite Features

stick shift

Suggested Improvements

Make driver seat more comfortable than the rest seats.

This is a great car - 45-52 mpg - original owner and I am very pleased. The downfall is the noise level, especially in the back seat. Seats could be a bit more plush also.

Favorite Features

Reliability, durability and handling

Suggested Improvements

Cut the noise level down and improve the seats - sore bottom at the end of a trip!

Review

This car gets good gas mileage (43-45 mpg actual) but suffers from several flaws I see as related to being the first model year of a unique (hybrid) car. Recalls on the exhaust system software (that led to me having 2 catalytic converters replaced before corrected) and the transmission (CVT failed at 102k before Honda extended the warranty to 100k - gee, thanks for the $3800 bill-NOT) have shaken my confidence in Honda quality. My hybrid now has 130k miles and runs well with its new transmission, but I would by the Prius if I had it to do all over again. Acceleration is lacking, to the point of dangerous with 4 riders at highway speed, and overall rattles etc. are disappointing.

Favorite Features

Gas mileage, roomy trunk.

Suggested Improvements

Add cassette (not just CD), offer leather seats, improve acceleration, add more color choices for the hybrid, massively improve build quality. Add lifetime warranty on hybrid batteries.
