I bought this car from my sister over 5 years ago (she bought it brand new). I've always been on time with the scheduled maintenance and haven't had any huge repairs other than the timing belt and water pump combo repair that cost about $1400. But NOW... some days when it starts, it will idle very rough and can barely climb hills. The engine seems to be misfiring even when I drive during any driving conditions. Brought it to the local shop and they can't find anything wrong. I feel very betrayed by my Civic just because I've always done the maintenance on time. Changed the spark plugs and ignition coils and still runs like garbage.
Better trade-in value, I might not be considering another Honda...
Hello... This may be a long shot but I had a similar problem. If you're interested in any advice, go to autozone and have them check your fault codes. I had a clogged purge valve, a bad o2 sensor and a bad CAT converter that is made into the exhaust manifold. What I think happened is that my O2 sensor ($60) went bad and the extra fuel clogged the purge valve ($37) and then the half burned fuel melted the inside of the exhaust manifold/CAT converter ($399 @ autozone) and caused it to fail. They were wrecking my life! LOL I couldn't pass emissions. I am glad that I got those issues fixed. Now nearly 6 months later no more issues.
