Wheel lug problems

I own a 2001 Honda Civic Lx and I was going to replace the brake pads on it, but when I went to take off the front drivers-side wheel, as I was untightening the lug nuts, instead of them coming off, they tore the entire stud clean in two about halfway down its length. this happened not once, but on three of the four lugs I tried to take off. apparently, somebody got a little ... Honda Civic Basic Maintenance Questions

Oil Filter Orientation

I am in the market for a new 2007 Honda Civic LX, and was wondering if someone could give me a little insight in how the oil filter is oriented under the engine. I spent a little time looking for it this evening before a test drive, but didn't take too much time. The salesman at the dealership had no idea...it was his first week, and I knew more about this car than he did! ... Read More...

Re: Oil change and maintainence light on 2006 Civic [rikrak]

I have a 2001 Honda Civic LX Four Door Sedan that has given me 5 years 10 months and 108,000 miles of relible service. It has been one of the best of nearly 8 new cars I have owned. This spring while cleaning the winter wear from this car I noticed the left front door weatherstrip was not properly fitted in the rear view mirror area. Unpon lifting the weatherstrip I discovered ... Read More...

Honda Civic GX

EGR problems and fuel filter condensation

Recently my 1999 Civic GX check engine light came on. I took it in for service. The GX trained tech at Garff Honda in SLC said that the code said the EGR had gone south. $163 for the part. Ten minutes to replace it. None in stock. I told him to order it. Apparently EGR valves have become quite complex since the last time I bought one for $12 and fit it to the top of my '66 Mustang. ... Honda Civic Real World MPG

Re: - [targettuning]

I've read the same thing. I will say I have had no problems filling to the brim for the last 4 years. I had a 2001 Honda Civic EX and I wanted to get an accurate mileage figure so I just filled it up slowly. Did that for 2 years and traded it in for a 2005 Pilot for my wife and have been doing it for almost 2 years now (104 fill-ups). The Pilot neck will take about 5 gallons - depending ... Read More...

Honda Civic Care and Maintenance

105k Maintenance Question

I have just reached 105k on my 2001 Honda Civic LX. Manual suggests the oil change & filter, but also a timing belt change (including drive belts, timing belt, water pump), manual transmission flush & fill, coolant system flush & fill, and brake system flush & fill. Local Dealer suggests this will be $800 total package. What is a reasonable price for this service ... Read More...

Re: 2001 Civic mpg [blufz1]

Wasn't it you that said ..."There ain't no "sweet spot" re automobiles. They are machines! ?"...:) A lot of these folks talk in terms as my mileage SUX, it is all Honda's and the EPA's fault, yada yada... and now you want to tell em it is a single overhead cam (sohc) type 4 cylinder in line piece of machinery??? :) And you really think they care that it takes very low hp ...
