How do I fix a DEAD instrument panel
My son's 2001 Honda Civic has in instrument panel that goes completely dead at times. It has done this twice in the last six months. The first time it lasted for only a few minutes. The panel was completely dead, gauges would not work, fuel indicated empty, temp gauge stayed at Cold, no tach rpms, no speedometer, no shift indcator for the trans, no odometer. The last ... Honda Civic Prices Paid and Buying Experience
Civic EX sedan auto Boston Area
Just took delivery of alabaster silver EX sedan auto. I had three dealerships in the Boston area competing and each quoted similar prices (within $200). Due to the flooding in the area, sales have been down this past week and dealers are willing to negotiate to make a sale. I ended up going with the dealer closest to my home for convenience. Here's the deal: Price: ... Read More...

Re: Does my 2001 Civic EX require ONLY Honda spark plugs? [timguy]
Honda recommends you use NGK spark plugs. You can get them for about $3-$4 each. I have Denso Iridium plugs in my Civic. They are about $12 each. I haven't really noticed the difference and will probably go back to NGK. Read More...

Paying MSRP?
I test drove the Civic LX (automatic) today and loved it. However, the dealer repeatedly assured me they wouldn't sell a Civic under sticker price. Edmund's TMV is well below MSRP, but KBB has the average selling price just below MSRP. I live in Pittsburgh so there are a lot of Honda dealers within a 25 mile radius. Should I just start shopping elsewhere, or was this ... Read More...
Mazda's not going anywhere [carfanatic007]
I doubt Mazda is going anywhere anytime soon... Mazda has quite a boom going on right now, especially now that it is about to release two new SUV models. The 3 sedan has better performance than the Civic, but can't match the Civic's economy. It's a tradeoff that people have to choose between, but there is no "wrong choice." Most kids buy Honda's to tune (or used to, ... Read More...
Honda Civic Ex is superior to Mazda 3i/S
Honda has quality, reliability and engineering on its side. Honda is known world wide for its excellent engines. Mazda has struggled financially for years and is owned by Ford Motor Co. I have driven the 3S and to me the Honda equals its performance. Plus, I like the interior much better. The AC is very COLD. I don't think Mazda will be in business much longer, maybe ... Re: How to purchase new Honda NGV [my70s2]
Back in 2001, the Honda Civic GX was sold to fleet purchasers. I found Chris in the fleet department at Sierra Autocars (Honda) a pleasure to during the purchasing process. The service departments at Sierra Autocars (Monrovia) and SF Honda (SF) have provided me with great support during my five years of ownership. Read More...
Finding A Place To Fill Up the Honda Civic GX
Re: cross country trips [cngmike]
I used to commute in my Honda 2001 Civic GX from Glendale to SF on a biweekly basis from 2001 - 2004 and from Glendale to LV on a biweekly basis from 2004 - 2006 (Ending May 5th due to a permanent move to LV). The mileage from Victorville D St pump to 2950 Ronemus Drive (LV 3600PSI) is 198 miles. Filling at Victorville or Barstow requires a Visa/MC. The pricing at Barstow ... Read More...
