I’m a member of the class and subclass, have lost 25% of former fuel efficiency and significant power to accelerate, and am quite unhappy with the pittance proposed in the settlement. I offer some constructive points to write to the Administrator about. If many of us send complaints about the proposed settlement that focus on our need to be made whole, to receive the benefit of the bargain we made with ... Read More
I just read the yahoo article on the failing new Civic. It's nice to see the company is getting the recognition it deserves! When Honda was on top putting out quality automobiles the reviews & slaes showed. Now that the 2012 Civic falls on its face with reduced interior quality, recall due to fuel leaks & a dated exterior (the back end reminds me of the early 2000's Camry) it's only ... Read More
2003-2005 Civics are a different car than 2006-2009 Civics. The "update" that the 2006-2009 owners are having trouble with is not the same as the maintenance update they put in your car. The latest update for the 2003-2005 Civics concentrates on keeping the battery half full. Gas mileage is affected slightly if you tend to drive fast or lots of local driving or lots of acceleration (if your battery isn't normally ... Read More
I had a 2000 Honda Accord EX V6 with leather, it was a great driving car but it developed a leak from the engine block(a somewhat common problem). The fix for this problem was rather interesting, they would pull the engine and apply JB-Weld to the outside of the block(I'm not joking this was the fix by the dealership). The interesting thing is that since my car was out of warranty ... Read More
2007 HCH Owner: What Honda is doing with this battery issue is criminal. I mean literally criminal - it is fraud. I'm not a lawyer, but really, what else can you call it. I get recals constantly. I'm also having troubles with my 2009 Civic Hybrid especially after the "update". Bought the car new ~7/2009 (37 miles) and had nothing but great things to say until receiving a software update in February 2011. I saw solid MPG all over the local Tucson area averaging 47-52 all year, on long drives to Phoenix (about 100 miles of flat 75 mph interstate) I saw 55-60 MPG consistently even on days ... Read More
I have to disagree. I have a 06' Civic Hybrid. I bought it in spring of 2010 with 36K on it. Last winter the IMA light came on and they issued the update, that I didn't want. It of course didn't really fix the problem, it just masked it. Ever since then recals have become more and more frequent. I've complained, and complained, and complained to Honda however, without an IMA ... Read More

I have the opportunity to take this car off my father's hands who has been overseas for a few years. Seems to start up just fine, but I didn't let it run in fear of damaging something in case it needs oil ... Read More
I shopped around for a week or two at a few dealers in MA. The MSRP sticker prices here are 19405 (18655 plus 750 destination charge). This thread has some really great ideas well thought out solutions. Let me add a twist. I have a 2000 Honda Civic LX. I have been noticing a signifigant loss of oil between regular oil changes. Craigs List solved my Insight IMA battery problem. I bought a 2000 Insight and went through 5 battery replacements by the dealer. The battery went again outside warranty. The new battery would have cost $2400 and be warrantied for 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever came first. Not a very good warranty. The car sat in our garage and we drove out 1985 Civic (a very dependable car). A friend of ... Read More
One just can't present a resonable dissenting opinion without objection from you or your pal Mr sandman. The simple fact is this....no matter how you might spin it 2006 through 2008 Civics have a far greater chance (as opposed to 2006-2008 Toyota Corollas or 2006-2008 Nissan Sentras or 2006-2008 whatever's) to develop an engine block crack. This is a factual issue otherwise we would NOT be having this little debate. Fact, ... Read More

I cannot understand why everybody is talking up Honda so much. I can tell, from being a soon to be ex-owner of a 7th Gen, 2003 LX, manual, there is much that stinks about Honda anymore. Regarding the software update for a 2009. 2009-2011 cars came from the factory with this upgrade already installed. Whatever they applied was an upgrade, but not THIS upgrade. Edmunds reports that dealers have $2000 in "marketing support". How can a buyer use this in negotiations? Does it affect the current terms of the lease? I question this because I have negative equity, and if a dealer could pay this off using the $2000, I would be in a better position to consider the special lease offer.
My wife and I got a fantastic deal from Markley Honda in Fort Collins on a new 2009 Civic EX-L. The entire experience at the dealer was great by any standard, especially since most dealers would consider us to be young enough to take advantage of. The test drive went well, we received a price below $2000 below MSRP and were treated well throughout the experience. Anyone in Fort Collins looking ... Read More
My daughter would like to purchase her first car a Honda Civic EX or EXL and maybe with Navigation system. Today we went to a Boston Honda dealer and he offered her a $50 (EX) $100 discount for EXL. Net price EX = $21,989 & EXL $23,785 without nav. Adding nav = $2000 for EX & $1200 EXL They also offered 7.91% for 36-60 mo financing & 8.91% for 72 mos. ... Read More
i live in baltimore and i say you coulda gotten a cheaper price at a dealership in laurel with extra garbage thrown in for free or if you're willing to drive 45 minutes east or west, you coulda done way better, i'm talking $1000 cheaper at 2 other dealerships. either way, it's a honda, resale value is great so don't brood over the price. i got mine for $16.5k and i ... Run from that deal a.s.a.p.,I would be looking for at least $2000.00 off sticker, also do not pay for dealer added package(wheel locks, car wash, b.s.) As far as interest rates with good credit 36 months you should look for low 5,maybe mid to upper 5 with 48 months. Shop it on line with multiple dealers, make sure you tell them to include dest. charge,or they will stick you. Also tell them to respond ... Read More
Is it true there is no glovebox light on new Civics and Accords, this according to my dealer? My 91 Accord has one, so does my 2000 4Runner, and so does my 2004 Z06....what gives, Honda?
Hi: I have been offered two lease agreements on a 2009 Honda SI, from two dealers in So. California. One is at $285 a month with a down payment of $2000.00, I am a tier 3, the second one is $265 + tax with a $2000.00 down payment. I would like to know what I need to look for in this agreement. I leased a Honda Accord for two years and ... Read More
Those who are debating whether to buy a Civic or a Jetta / a Civic Si or a GTI, go and buy a Honda pleaseeee ;) I currently own a Jetta generation IV and I'm about to guy a 2009 Civic LX-S because of that. VW's are not total but I've pretty much spend around 2000 dlls on reparations during the 5 years I've had it , this doesn't count the ... Read More
Hi everyone! I'm about to buy my first car, had (in my mind) settled on a 2009 VW Jetta S, but after reading some of the posts on the VW forums, I'm not so sure. Another car I was considering is a Honda Civic, but we have one (2000), and there are many little things about it that annoy me - the tiny trunk, the noisy and bumpy ride, the ridiculous ... Hey I could use some help, I'm trying to lease a new 08 civic: I wish to get a Honda Civic Coupe Ex Manual, They quoted me at msrp at $19435 $2000 down and monthly payments at $313. Is this a good deal? I felt that was overpriced so I walked away. Btw I'm in northern california. My credit score is in the high 750+ I wanted them to lower the ... Read More
let me jump in here and tell you why.. Had a civic (96-2000 generation) that was sitting for about 8-10months. The bushings in the rear lower control arms dry rotted! Not a good thing to have that lock up and almost lost control of the car. Bushings are what you really have to examine extremely closely (bright light, magnifying glass). for the 96-2000 generation the control arms and bushings weren't that ... Read More

I'm looking at buying a 2000 Honda Civic. It is in unbelievable condition (only 35,000 miles!), but it was involved in an accident in 2001. The seller showed me the repair receipt, and one of the items listed was "Frame/Unibody Repair and Setup" at a cost of $55.00. Is that anything to be concerned about? I got a Carfax report on it, and the accident is listed but under "Structural/Frame Damage ... Read More

I just drove away in my new Civic--I decided against the Elantra, and I am so glad I did. I paid $16,501 plus $670 destination plus tag (no tax, I had a trade)for a total of $17230. I tried three different dealers, and I saved $3800 (one dealer offered $2000 less in trade and MSRP on 2008 Civic! ). Very happy with deal at Piazza Honda.
Hi All, I've driven my '08 Civic LX for less than 200-300 miles and I'm still not used to the sounds of the VTEC system. First, the rpm randomly shifts from 1500/2000 to 3000 when going up and down hills - and even sometimes when accelerating on the highway. I did some research and I believe this is the Grade Logic Control/Transmission kicking in to cause engine breaking [though I have ... Read More
I was recently faced with a similar decision, and I test drove both cars several times before I made my choice. I initially wanted the 2009 Corolla LX, but I finally ended up with the 2008 Civic LX Sedan. Here are some of the issues I considered: 2008 Civic pluses: The Civic offers far better handling than the Corolla, and the interior is much more refined. It's also more fun to ... Read More
