My wife's Honda Civic EX AC went out recently. I went and bought a new compressor with clutch, expansion valve, the whole works. Had it all replaced at a shop. But the AC now working, does not really feel cold, or cool the car interior down. My 1995 Honda Civic EX 1.6L DOHC VTEC Automatic is rated for 29 MPG combined on the old ratings and 26 MPG on the new 2008 ratings. I achieve a 33 MPG on a 90 day average. I have a 1995 5-speed Honda Civic. It's always gotten pretty fantastic gas mileage--averaging 32 to 35 in town and 40 to 45 on the highway. However, on a recent trip from Portland, Maine, to Bangor, Maine, I shot those numbers down--hard. I maintained a speed of about 80 to 85 MPH the entire way, a 136-mile journey. Yes, I agree. Now the question for me is if Hyundai is improving...from what, if Mazda remains Mazda, how reliable... compared to Toyota and Honda.My Mazda owning friends like them but have lots of repair/maintenance issues and their cars don't age well.
