Re: 2009 Civic LX A/C [accordhunter]
A few questions then my comments on what Honda told you. You say you bought the car in early April (or the end of March) correct? I see that by the title of this post it was a new 2009, correct? I will tell you that we own a 1995 Dodge and I HAD been returning it to the dealer at the beginning of the cooling season (April..May) each year for a system check thinking that from ... Read More...

1995 Honda Civic EX AC Question
My wife's Honda Civic EX AC went out recently. I went and bought a new compressor with clutch, expansion valve, the whole works. Had it all replaced at a shop. But the AC now working, does not really feel cold, or cool the car interior down. Took it back to the shop, they rechecked all of thier work, vaccumed the whole unit and recharged it with the same effect. I later ... Read More...
What kind coolant to use for my Honda Civic
I just received a 1995 Honda Civic SI Couple and the car needs coolant. What kind of coolant should be used? The standard green? The orange? The 50 / 50 diluted? or the Honda coolant? I don't have owner's manual and would appreciate input. Read More...
1995 Honda Civic EX MPG
My 1995 Honda Civic EX 1.6L DOHC VTEC Automatic is rated for 29 MPG combined on the old ratings and 26 MPG on the new 2008 ratings. I achieve a 33 MPG on a 90 day average. MPG is tracked on 4 different sites and I would consider myself a conservative hypermiler. Tire pressure is at max sidewell. I typically drive the speed limit which is 65 MPH or sometimes 55-60 depending ... Read More...
Ridiculously good gas mileage
I have a 1995 5-speed Honda Civic. It's always gotten pretty fantastic gas mileage--averaging 32 to 35 in town and 40 to 45 on the highway. However, on a recent trip from Portland, Maine, to Bangor, Maine, I shot those numbers down--hard. I maintained a speed of about 80 to 85 MPH the entire way, a 136-mile journey. I used no heat or A/C, no fan at all. Just windows down ... Read More...

Re: fair and balanced [targettuning]
Yes, I agree. Now the question for me is if Hyundai is improving...from what, if Mazda remains Mazda, how reliable... compared to Toyota and Honda. My Mazda owning friends like them but have lots of repair/maintenance issues and their cars don't age well. The Hyundais I've driven (all pre 2008) still seem somewhat primitive to me in road feel and performance ... Read More...
95 Civic - Fix or Sell As Is?
I have a 1995 Honda Civic LX with 106K miles in very good condition, never had a problem with it. I now use public transportation to commute to work and hardly ever use the car so I'm looking to sell it. This morning the mechanic told me it needs new front brake pads, a new radiator, a new oil pan gasket, a tune up, and a new timing belt at 120K. All of this work will restore ... Read More...
