Now that the 2012 Civic has been panned by Consumer Reports, we hear that it doesn't matter what they think about the Civic. You should suspect a blown head gasket, allowing your coolant to mix with cylinder gasses. Have a compression test done on all the cylinders, to see if one (or more) are reading low. If so, you'll need to have some upper engine head work done on it.

Actually, Hondas appeal to an ever aging group, particularly the Civic. Younger people are now moving to brands like Scion, Subaru and Mazda. In the early 90s, the Civic was the best small car, no argument there. But since then, Honda has stood still in producing innovative features for the Civic and has offered only a 2HP increase in its aging rubber timing belted engine since 1992. That's right, a 1992 ... No one is immune to recalls and when you make over 1 million Focuses sold worldwide, that's going to happen. The 05 Focus is light years ahead of the 05 Civic in terms of features and performance." While my 1994 Civic EX 5 speed isn't the most glamorous or exciting ride it has proven itself to be amazingly reliable and trouble free in the 10 years I have owned it. I'm looking to buy a Civic DX Value Package. I submitted a quote request through this site and got a response from a dealer with a starting price of $13,100. That seemed like a good starting point since the Edmunds TMV price is $13,400. I know people on this board got lower prices, but I think that was due to the Honda dealer incentive program, which is over. Anyway, I went ... Read More

Honda helped us out with it by giving us fair trade, a 1999 Accord EX 5 speed at cost, and $1000 cash. We were happy since the 99' had just come out and there was no dealing on them in the ... On a ten year old car with 190,000 miles, what you should expect is that anything could break, at any time. Even on a Honda. One thing to check on is to see if the timing belt has been replaced recently, as it should have been at about 180,000 miles. Also see if there's records on other parts replacements, e.g. has the catalytic converter ever been replaced? When was the muffler ... Read More
