Fun, reliable, and fast

Review

I bought my car with almost 140,000 miles and was thusly planning some sort of engine swap. However, the little SOHC VTEC powerplant still pulls strongly to the redline without any complaints. Transmission shifts smoothly with semi-short throws, the interior is very comfortable, and all the fun power features still work blissfully. I definitely suggest this car to anyone, high-mileage or not.

Favorite Features

Captiva Blue Pearl color, power features (sunroof, mirrors, cruise, etc.), sport seats, nice design, great gas mileage

Suggested Improvements

Maybe larger wheels with lower-profile tires, and power windows would have been a nice feature, as well as standard air conditioning. Not much to complain about.

Review

I bought this car new when I was in college. Now, 10 years later and with a good job I still love it. Everyone I work with drives new SUVs, luxury sedans, or sport cars, but I enjoy driving my Civic. It has a solid feel, responsive handling, acceptable accelleration, and I like the styling (much less cheap looking than the new Civics). Plus, I don't feel nervous parking in D.C. or driving over potholes.

Favorite Features

Solid feel. Excellent gas milage (I get 35 to 40mpg!). Surprisingly large cargo space. Reliable.

Suggested Improvements

The new Civics don't feel nearly as solid.

10 years of trouble-free driving

Best car I've ever owned. Only replaced the typical (tires, battery, brakes,tuneup,timing belt,etc) Needed new CV boots at 140,000. Replaced driveshafts (about $330.00). Used Mobil 1 since 500 miles. Maintains 42 MPG city/highway. Rust is starting to become a concern. Wonder how much longer it will still look acceptable.

Favorite Features

Excellent mpg (once got 58 from Chicago to Detroit), easy to park, easy to work on, excellent clutch - still seems like new. Good braking. Body integrity was excellent - nothing broke except the driver's door lock. Still goes 80 MPH on freeway quietly and smoothly.

Suggested Improvements

Needed cruise control as standard, Didn't have intermittant wipers. Could have used better rust protection. Exhaust system was expensive to replace but only needed to once.

I bought my VX new in 1992. 170,000 miles later, and I still love this car. In all those miles, I have had to replace only the distributor and the coil. Fantastic. Handles like a dream and still looks new. Finish and interior wore exceptionally well. I wish they hadn't stopped putting the V- tech engine in the Civic - this was one awesome car.

Favorite Features

Gas mileage - got almost 50 mpg new, and still gets in the high 30's. But for that, still a lot of power.

Suggested Improvements

None - bring the car back with this engine, it was a sure deal.

I have driven this car over 200,000 miles with no problems... I think I am going to keep it around for another 100,000 or so miles...

very reliable, great fuel milage, great honda service..

Suggested Improvements

high wind and road noise at 60 MPH and above..

This is a great car that I have had no problems with. The only part of the car that I don't like is the "a" pillar. The design is awful,rain enters vehicle while raining with window cracked open, wind is horribe against side of head. Just a poor design. The rest of the car is great. I would buy more if I had the money.

Favorite Features

The amount of fun you have blowing the doors off of domestic vehicles. No match of any sort from twice the power or price.

Suggested Improvements

Get an air intake and exhaust.

the availability for extras and the comfort. the mpg thing is awesome too.
