What happened to Honda?

2011 Honda Accord EX 2dr Coupe (2.4L 4cyl 5M)
Review
Bought this car to take over daily driving duties from a 96 Accord. As others have mentioned, the front seats are uncomfortable after 15 minutes of driving. The clutch pedal is very smooth, but it provides no feedback to the driver on dis/engagement. The steering wheel has a very cheap feel from all of the plastic pieces. Sight lines look good from the outside, but there is a jump in height of the interior trim that cuts several inches off the bottom of the rear windows. The car feels as if it was hurried to be finished. Look at how the mirrors are only 2/3 painted and the dash is about an inch short of the the windshield showing foam insulation as examples.
Favorite Features
Only time will tell, but it is a Honda so it should run until the body turns into a pile of rust.
Suggested Improvements
I would love it if Honda brought their Diesel to the US. I also wish Honda would build the Accord with the same quality and craftsmanship that they did in the 4th and 5th generations.

You sure about the 1 star comfort? Specifically, I find the seat bottom foam on the sides is a lttle bit too firm, but that's the only minor problem I see with the seat. The lumbar support is a little aggresive, but it works for me, and I usually don't need much lumbar support. Rest of the seat is good. A tilt knob for the bottom would be sweet, but that is very rare. I know the power leather seat is a little better, you can get that perfect tilt on the seat bottom which is important. Other than that, I find the car to be pretty darn good for the money - mechanicals, paint, wheels, tires, interior trim, fabric, controls, guages, pretty much everything is pretty darn good IMO. I like the way it drives and I bet it holds up very well in case of the worst, a bad accident.

Yes it is deserving of the one star. The angle of the seat bottom, seat bottom length, bottom side bolsters, lumbar, and active head restraint system make this a seat that should be looked at as the example of what not to do. Having a manual transmission makes the situation even worse as the side bolster really digs into your left leg from the motion of working the clutch. Like you stated, it is a good car. It is not a great car like older generation Accords were. Overall my rating was 2.5, middle of the pack just like the current Accord. The C&D 10 Best awards are no longer deserved for a car that is just average. As a long time Accord owner I would like the Accord to be a class leader. However, the current professional reviews have become more critical of the Accord and its shortcomings. The question that remains to be answered is if Honda will look at those reviews as a wake-up call, or if they will continue to milk past success while making a mediocre vehicle.
