This seems to work very well, but it's only short term because the device seems to reset and turn back on when the engine goes off. It's easy enough to do over and over, but the buzz for the 60-90 sec can drive you nuts. I found a more permanent fix. The link is http://www.justanswer.com/honda/1bymn-causes-motorboat-noise-2005-honda-accord-h- - - ybrid.html. I think this fix is basically doing a permanent grounding from the dome ... Read More
I bought my son's 2005 Accord Hybrid last year and began noticing the "drone" in a few months. Now in the summer it is unbearable! through the forum, I found out what it is, downloaded the Service bulletin and took it to the dealer. Luckily, they were able to hear it on a test drive. Estimate to fix $650! It's out of warranty- 46,000 and I just spent $400 for a ... Read More
Currently selling my 2005 Honda CR-V LX AWD AT with 58,000 miles. Is $12,500 about what I should get selling on my own? Thinking of going back to car. Looking at Accord and Kia Optima. Any thoughts to lead me either way? Might even consider Civic LX or EX. Any pricing in NJ for each car?
I have a 2005 Accord LX 4 cylinder with the 5-speed automatic. It only has 30,000 miles on it. I had the recall done in fall regarding the transmission programming. Now I'm noticing every time the temperature is below freezing, the first shift from 1st to 2nd gear is very sluggish. It's not a slip, but it's an uncomfortable sluggishness. This car NEVER EVER missed a shift since I bought it ... Read More

In my 07 accord ex coupe, the six disc changer started skipping madly. I had a professional installer disconnect it, and put in an Alpine single disc w/ipod connection. It sounds great except that the OE microwave antenna is crappy. I'm still thinking about getting a mast antenna installed.
Precisely the same thing happened to my 05 Honda Accord. I went to the dealer and they told me I would have to pay out of pocket to fix it because my warranty is up. I had the compartment underneath the radio removed and an Alpine stereo installed. The old radio is still there and still randomly comes on and fizzles out again... Sometimes not for a few days will it ... Read More
My 2005 Honda Accord stereo stop working. At first was like on and off all the time. Then, the single CD player started ejecting the CDs for no reason. Next, the lights went out with no sond at all. I really do not know what to do. Any suggestions???
Thanks! I know, I couldn't believe it either that 05 coupe only had 23K miles! Now if the Carfax comes up clear, I think I'll return to school with a great car!
I can't believe that someone just put 23,000 miles on an '05. It is just like new at that point. I have an '05 Coupe, manual with I4. I purchased it new. I forgot to mention that the car has 23K miles on it so I would agree with you that I don't think a warranty is necessarily the best option. And the price is for TX... Is that a good price? Extended warranties on any car rarely pay off. This only gives you an extra 4 years... Seems here in NC they are willing to deal. I did buy my Accord (2005 LX auto 4-cyl) in July and they were willing to take less then what their lowest offer was to me so it may take some months to lower that price. I've shopped for both lately and can tell you that the Fusions are going for about the same as Accords of the same year. Having driven the 2006 Fusion, I'd pick an Accord any day. The Fusion handles fine, but the 4 cylinder is weak and noisy. The car just doesn't feel like it's in the same league as the Accord. More recent Fusions may be better, and the Accord definitely ... I agree with you about Honda styles. I have an '05 Accord EX-L Coupe which I really love. However, I don't think the style is that great. After I saw the new 2012 Civic four door, I posted a comment in that forum about Honda's lousy designs. I was "blasted" for saying anything negative about Honda. (Edmunds says it's worth around $8k). Net price - $13,824.00 The whole buying process took 2 hours...I'm really happy!! ... Read More
Honda transmissions have been downshifting as you described for at least FIVE years that I'm aware of. Our 2005 and 2008 Odysseys both did it, and our 2008 Ridgeline does it too. It's part of how Hondas work, so you may as weel get used to it.
This is not normal based on my Honda. I have a 2005 Honda Accord, 4 cylinder, with 95,000 miles. I change the oil every 5,000 miles. The oil does not move on the stick. I will say that if this were one of the big three, and the car new, that they would not consider that excessive.
"The rip-off is bigger because Honda knows the problem and "good-will" discounts only to people that complain" I complained and it did not do me any good. I told the Honda dealer that I had spent $75,000 since 2005 at his dealership and they still did not pay 1 penny toward my brake issue. I told them that I was trading the Accord and would never buy another Honda again and ... Read More
First of all, let me state straight away that this is not a troll post, as I've been monitoring this forum for long time. My wife and I have owned a Honda vehicles since 1978. Civics, Accords, and an even an Element... of course, we've also owned other makes of cars too within that period of time, as we always have a least two cars. We currently have a 2009 Accord ... This is exactly why I have not traded my 2005 Accord EX-L with 93,000 miles. I keep reading about the brake problems. Honda is never real anxious to give you a break on repair costs that they are responsible for.
Based on my experience with other Honda batteries, I expect it to last an average of 7 years if the car is driven frequently, and three years if driven infrequently. Mileage has nothing to do with the longevity.
Ogre_GEV, Thanks for your instruction. Do you think the Accord IMA battery should last long for many years? I heard Toyota hybrid battery lasts very long for 150K - 200K miles.
Remember that the battery is functionally identical to the Civic battery. There is quite a bit of discussion in the Civic Hybrid forum.
Ogre_GEV, Please keep us posted with updated info. on Accord Hybrid IMA battery. Thanks.
It really depends on what kind of terrain you are driving. Can you charge the battery at home? No. There is a charger available for 2000-2006 Honda Insights, but not for other models yet.
Hello friends, I have recently bought a Honda accord ex V6 and the car keeps pulling/ drifting to the right. I had the car aligned 6 times in Tire Kingdom and no luck. I called Honda and they said they need to do another alignment and a vehicle inspection. I went to safercar.gov and found a service bulletin about it. Does anyone else here had this problem? Please give me your ... Read More
Then I stand corrected. My lesson here is never to buy a car in the first year of the new generation!!!
Well its just an opinion, relatively speaking. You picked out one year (2003) but the generation, as a whole, is pretty solid. And from 2003, transmissions were the biggest issue so that skews things a bit.
Well its just an opinion, relatively speaking. Check out www.carcomplaints.com http://www.carcomplaints.com/Honda/Accord/2003/ Again I am just using this as an example. Honda is or was supposed to be known for its quality. Relatively speaking, I do think Honda's quality has dropped a bit. Perhaps Honda suffered what most manufacturers suffer on a new release with a new generation. The first year of a new generation is generally the problematic one while the ... Read More
Well, I guess it is my turn to join the crowd. Even if I wasn't extremely happy with my EX-L w/Navi, I4 manual (I am, BTW), I can't remember reading any wholesale complaints about this generation. There were some issues, as with all cars, but never to the point that the whole generation was a dog.
The previous generation (2003-2006) was probably one of the worst generations of Accords in years. I would like to know what is wrong with my 03 Accord? That is not apparent to me.
It's hit or miss. Honda's quality is no where near what it used to be. Honda is living off "word of mouth" and loyal customers from the past. If you go to many car complaint websites, you'll see that there are more Honda complaints compared to many other manufacturers. The previous generation (2003-2006) was probably one of the worst generations of Accords in years. Honda seriously needs to look at themselves ... Read More
Well I went to the Honda Stealership yesterday. I told them to check the rear brakes because they are probably toast. They were worn out at 23,000 miles. Front brakes were great 7mm left. The service manager told me if I would have brought it in with less that 20,000 miles that Honda would have paid for 1/2 the cost. She told me that because of the class action law suit ... Read More
My Accord Hybrid 2005 that my college son drives it now, got same "phantom noise" for years after my complaints to different Honda dealers. Luckily, last time, 1+ years ago, one of Honda mechanics was able to hear it when he almost gave up (as other previous Honda mechanics) after a test drive. He replaced some parts. It costed some $650 and it was paid off by my extended warranty. This ... Read More
Mine went out also (04). Honda extended the warranty on this part to 100k. They evidently had a problem with it. They replaced mine for free. I also noticed improved sound quality with the new one. The stock subwoofer output was much stronger.
I have a 2005 Accord with 40000 miles. The engine light just came on,I recently had the right hand blinker go out.It took several hours to locate the problem. After 4 hours the Honda Dealership found a faulty blinker relay switch. Now 4 weeks later my light comes on.Anyone with any experience on the subject know what I might be getting into at the dealership when I take it in?Does this light cover anything ...
