Review of the 2005 Honda Accord

  • No other sedan puts together all the elements of a family car as well as the 2005 Honda Accord.

  • Safety
  • Pros

Roomy and stylish interior, tight build quality, smooth ride, powerful and efficient hybrid model, good crash test scores.

  • Cons

Tepid handling, brakes should be more powerful.

  • What's New for 2005

Honda takes a bold leap for 2005 with the introduction of the Hybrid Accord. Rather than add a hybrid motor to its four-cylinder, Honda bolts its third-generation IMA system to the Accord's already-potent V6. In one fell swoop the Accord hybrid has become the class leader in fuel economy (30 city, 38 highway) and power (255 horsepower). Other changes for the 2005 Honda Accord this year include new wheel cover designs for the LX and EX trims, a new coin pocket design, illuminated steering wheel controls and improved rear styling in sedans with redesigned taillamps. In addition, front-seat side airbags and full-length head curtain airbags are now available on all trim levels all the way down to the base DX model.

The I4 engine is smooth and quiet and the automatic transmission shifts smoothly. The interior design is top notch. The cd player is surprisingly good. There is lots of interior storage. The cloth interior is one of the best ones I've ever seen. The wheels are very nice looking. The EPA gas mileage ratings are pretty low this car is capable of 38 MPG on the highway and upper 20s around town. For the price it's a really good value.

Over all a nice sporty car with good interior functions. Fair gas mileage. Fun to drive. Lots of storage for such a small car.

Vehicle: 2005 Honda Accord LX Special Edition 2dr Coupe (2.4L 4cyl 5A)

Purchased this car for my Wife and 16 year old daughter to share. The quality is as excellent as expected and the performance is just right for it's intended use. We almost purchased the new VW Jetta, then came to our senses and walked next door then drove home with the new Accord Coupe. Whew! that was a close call. There is no comparison. We are very pleased with our purchase and just really like this car.
