Review of the 2005 Honda Accord

  • No other sedan puts together all the elements of a family car as well as the 2005 Honda Accord.

  • Safety
  • Pros

Roomy and stylish interior, tight build quality, smooth ride, powerful and efficient hybrid model, good crash test scores.

  • Cons

Tepid handling, brakes should be more powerful.

  • What's New for 2005

Honda takes a bold leap for 2005 with the introduction of the Hybrid Accord. Rather than add a hybrid motor to its four-cylinder, Honda bolts its third-generation IMA system to the Accord's already-potent V6. In one fell swoop the Accord hybrid has become the class leader in fuel economy (30 city, 38 highway) and power (255 horsepower). Other changes for the 2005 Honda Accord this year include new wheel cover designs for the LX and EX trims, a new coin pocket design, illuminated steering wheel controls and improved rear styling in sedans with redesigned taillamps. In addition, front-seat side airbags and full-length head curtain airbags are now available on all trim levels all the way down to the base DX model.

Hah after a year

Vehicle: 2005 Honda Accord EX PZEV 2dr Coupe w/Leather and Navigation (2.4L 4cyl 5A)

I love this car! It provides performance without guilt. Great mileage is available and the car tells you how you're doing so that you can adjust your driving style for max. mileage. At the same time, real power and acceleration is available any time you need it. It is comfortable and responsive. I have owned it for almost a year and have encountered no manufacturing problems and have enjoyed every minute I've spent driving it. I drive 20 miles each way to work every day, half town miles and half interstate miles and average 30 mpg on those trips. Overall average is consistently 26 to 27 mpg -- 25 per cent better than my '95 Accord Wagon (170,000 miles and still going!).
