Review of the 2004 Honda Accord

  • A perennial "most researched" on Edmunds.com, the 2004 Honda Accord's combination of refinement, interior space and features make it an excellent choice when shopping for a midsize family sedan or coupe.

  • Safety
  • Pros

Tight build quality, quiet cabin, refined and powerful engines, reputation for quality and durability, high crash test scores.

  • Cons

Tepid handling doesn't match up to the 240-hp V6's promise of driving excitement.

  • What's New for 2004

As the model was fully redesigned for the 2003 model year, there are only a few changes on the 2004 Honda Accord. Availability of side curtain airbags has been expanded this year to four-cylinder EX models -- standard on those with leather, optional on cars with a cloth interior. All four- and six-cylinder EX models equipped with a leather interior now have XM Satellite Radio with three months of free service as standard equipment. And as with all Honda cars this year, a new seatbelt reminder system is standard. Accord models meeting California's stringent Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (PZEV) standards -- all four-cylinder sedans equipped with automatic transmission -- will also be sold in the states of New York, Maine, Vermont and Massachusetts.

Best car i've ever owned

Vehicle: 2004 Honda Accord EX 4dr Sedan w/Leather and Navigation (2.4L 4cyl 5A)

I have owned many cars including 4 Hondas, and this is the most reliable, lowest cost to own of them all. Tons of room for our family of 4 and only routine maintenance so far (oil, brakes, tires, etc.). Could get a little better mpg for a 4 cyl car, but gets over 30 mpg on the highway so can't complain too much. Very comfortable leather interior, good legroom (I'm 6'5" tall), and plenty of trunk space. Car now has 132,000 miles and doesn't leak or burn any oil, and the transmission still feels very strong with no issues so far. Can't imagine being happier with another car. Have always liked Hondas, but this one is by far the best I've owned.

Low cost and lovin' it.

Vehicle: 2004 Honda Accord EX 4dr Sedan w/Leather and Navigation (2.4L 4cyl 5A)

I bought this car used in 2006. Since then, other than usual maintenance cost of tires, brakes, oil changes, etc. I spent about $85 to replace a gasket. After driving a Subaru and a Chevy where costs started within the first year of ownership, and became excessive quickly, I will never buy anything but Honda again. I love, love love this car.

I love my accord!!!!

Vehicle: 2004 Honda Accord EX 4dr Sedan w/Leather and Navigation (2.4L 4cyl 5A)

I love my Accord! I feel like I am sitting in much more expensive luxury sedan. Especially with the leather, sun/moon roof, and navigation system! I love the fact that my car can talk to me and that except for the driving itself, pretty much everything is voice controled! I feel much safer not having to remove my eyes from the road to change the station, temperature, or even use the navigation. Not to mention all of the comments I get from friends and co-workers--They can't believe how roomy and comfy the car is! And most of them don't even know how big the trunk is. This car is full of fun! I feel like a million bucks in my under $25 grand car!!! I wish everyone had one it's so much fun!!

Fun to drive

Vehicle: 2004 Honda Accord EX 4dr Sedan w/Leather and Navigation (2.4L 4cyl 5A)

I love my car. The interior design/ leather/GSP system is the same as the LT for 10,000 less. The car is great.

Great car

Vehicle: 2004 Honda Accord EX 4dr Sedan w/Leather and Navigation (2.4L 4cyl 5A)

Got sick of spending money on big fixes for a 97 saab 900 turbo convert. This car is rock solid; the 4-cylinder is just fine. Classy interior, NAV and voice systems are fantastic as well. My first Honda (after many Toyotas over the years), and the first 5000 miles have gone smoothly. I have concluded that dual climate control is ridiculous, however.

I really like this car

Vehicle: 2004 Honda Accord EX 4dr Sedan w/Leather and Navigation (2.4L 4cyl 5A)

If you are in the market for a new sedan i dont think you can match the value of a new ex with leather and nav. I dont think the car will win any races but it will get you there safely and on time. I have had it for a week now and i cant justify the extra 10k that i was thinking about spending on a new acura tl. Some things on the acura were a little nicer/refined but i couldnt be happier
