Had transmission issues-gasket in-between casings gone-hard to fix -costing 15-2000 dollars. Two oil leaks sprang up in engine-gaskets. I was later told Honda gaskets die after 100,000-so dam true! Other person I know had severe transmission issues in this model. Door is a issue-try and go out it goes to swing back on you. Body rot started on the panels-exhaust system rotted out-same right tail light went out 6 times in a few years. Nightmare. Please look at the later models first. This 2003 was a Bust!
I have been driving this car for 2 1/2 years now and have had a few minor problems. The OEM Bridgestone tires needed replacements around 25,000 miles. The brakes also went around the same time. I had the pads and rotors replaced free of charge at a local dealership. The cable for the trunk/gas lid also broke and was replaced under warranty. I got the car at a bargain price and have been extremely pleased with it. I did add two rear speakers (wiring was already set up). The car does not have AC or PDL's like the LX, but you really cant beat its value. It is pretty peppy for a 4 cylinder.
I love what they did with the interior. Center consol and Gauges were very stylish for 2003.
Any improvements would add to the sticker. You get more than what you pay for in this car.
Great performer for the $. Powerful
acceleration w/good mileage. Drives
well, quiet, fun 5 speed manual. Very
refined for a $15K car. Not a lot of
bells and whistles but has CD player &
power windows. A/C is an option.
Want A/C?, then an LX is a better
deal. Only problem has been window
seal buzzing (seems to have mostly
gone away on its own) & buzz in the
center console CD compartment at 70 on
freeway. Wish it had power door
locks. This is a low price entry into
a top class of automobile. This car
can be had for about same cost as
Civic LX and is much more refined,
powerful & roomy. Great value to buy
and cheap to maintain over the years.
