Review of the 2003 Honda Accord

  • Honda fiddles with a successful recipe, leaving out some of the parts people seem to like and adding spice for which nobody asked. The result, to a critic's eye, is questionable, though it will certainly sell to the masses in the same quantities it does today.

  • Safety
  • Pros

Tight build quality, quiet cabin, refined powertrains, comfortable driver seat, outstanding optional navigation system.

  • Cons

Missing key features, relatively small trunk, mushy handling with V6.

  • What's New for 2003

The Honda Accord -- one of America's favorite vehicles -- has been substantially changed for 2003. Continuing as a sedan and a coupe, the 2003 Honda Accord features more powerful and fuel-efficient engines, increased safety and higher levels of interior comfort. A voice-activated GPS navigation system is optional, and a sporty EX coupe debuts in early 2003.

The one!

Vehicle: 2003 Honda Accord EX 4dr Sedan (2.4L 4cyl 5A)

I bought this used in 2010 with 50k miles. Now at 77k miles. Not a single issue. After 1.5 years and 27,000 miles, I understand the Accord marketing slogan "The One". This is hands-down the best car I've ever owned. The performance of the 4 cyl engine is better than V6's I've owned in the past. This car is comfortable, smooth, sporty; perfect.

Love it!

Vehicle: 2003 Honda Accord EX 4dr Sedan (2.4L 4cyl 5A)

I bought my Accord used with 12,000 miles on it. Now 6 years later it has 253k on it. I have NOT had a problem out of it at all. It has been a great car. Even with the high miles on it i am still averaging 33 MPG. No leaks whatsoever and still rides amazing. I plan on driving this car until it finally quits. I have put 240k miles on it and I believe i can run it for another 250k. The only problem is the paint. It has faded in a select few spots but i cant complain

Great car

Vehicle: 2003 Honda Accord EX 4dr Sedan (2.4L 4cyl 5A)

I have had my Honda for nearly eight years and have really enjoyed it. So far repair costs have totaled a mere $100 and that was at an out of town dealership on a Saturday afternoon! Very comfortable, precise handling, good visibility and the radio and HVAC controls are easy to use while driving. It is a little slow off the line but the mpg is outstanding. I regularly observe 34 mpg highway and even had one 38 mpg trip. The paint and interior have held up well and still look good. I feel confident that I'll enjoy driving this Accord for another eight years without any complaints.

Disappointing

Vehicle: 2003 Honda Accord EX 4dr Sedan (2.4L 4cyl 5A)

I do have the same rattling problem in 2003 Honda Accord (EX 4dr Sedan) as indicated by “jp1234” for his 2004 Honda Accord (see 2004 consumer rating) The rattling problem started when it just reached 8000 miles. The worst thing I’ve experienced, when I went to my Honda dealer (Curry Honda, NY) for this problem, they just told me they are not hearing any extra noise! I bought Honda for its quality, but now I am really very disappointed with Honda family.

A great car

Vehicle: 2003 Honda Accord EX 4dr Sedan (2.4L 4cyl 5A)

Good overall car, but I've gotten very poor fuel economy with the 4cyl. I get 18-20 in the city regardless of how I drive. The brakes have started squealing more than usual too. I've owned 2 other Honda products and loved them. I just don't love this car. I'd rather have my '89 Accord.
