2001 Honda Accord EX V-6 2dr Coupe (3.0L 6cyl 4A)

Review

I had a 1998 almost identical and loved it. It got totaled, so I replaced it with the 2001. I love it as well. I think that it is extremely stylish. I love the comfort and the leather. I really enjoy the climate control system. I have yet to find another car that I would want to trade it in for.

Favorite Features

My favorite features would have to be the climate control, the 6-disc cd changer, the power seats, and the leather interior.

Suggested Improvements

One thing that I was dissapointed about was the fact that it was not available in a Manual. I think that if you are buying a V-6, you should be able to get the transmission that you want.

Review

Mine is a 4 cyl/ automatic transmission. Had to replace the brake system power booster 2 wks after purchase (almost rear ended another vehicle). Now the car has developed a chugging noise in the front end and nobody is able to troubleshoot it. Sheet metal is paper thin, paint chips very easily. The engine has enough power, but you really have to punch the gas. LOTS of tire and wind noise and whinny transmission. Overall, a slightly less than average ownership experience and definitely not what I expected from a manufacturer with such reputation for quality and reliability.

Favorite Features

tight turning circle agile for a medium sized car spacious interior decent mileage with 87 octane gas

Suggested Improvements

Not as reliable as they say. Craftmanship is ok, but car is just too fragile to sustain initial quality level over time.

Review

Honda VTEC engine with manual transmission = highly refined drivetrain. Just put it in second gear and rip it all the way up to 6,000 rpm. This is not abusing the engine - this is giving this Honda engine the exercise that it yearns for. Very smooth manual shifter - I can shift to any given gear at any time with a precision that takes my breath away. High quality interior materials - nothing looks or is cheap. No rattles, only one minor squeak from the seat when I do hard cornering. Plenty of storage bins. Mileage: 1398 divided by 42.366 = 33.0 mpg when driving easy, 27 - 28 mpg when driving hard. Drawback: Hard cabin air filters replacement.

Favorite Features

6 disc in dash cd changer; Ice cold A/C; Extreemly reliable vehicle; Good all around ergonomics; exacting fit and finish interior; exacting body gaps exterior. Center console storage is really two bins in one - and you can open the lower bin while the upper bin is still closed.

Suggested Improvements

High beams switch is on the steering wheel column - it belongs on the floorboard; Brake light switch clicks and can be felt when activating brakes; excessive windshield and rear view mirror wind noise; no telescopic steering wheel; inaccurate fuel gauge; onion skinned thin paint.

Review

Bought in for 3 years and I never experience a single break-down. The only things I spent are the scheduled maintainences, oil changes, and that's all! However, do not expect it to be too 'sporty' because of the soft suspension setting that aims for daily- use comfort. Yet, highly recommanded with its built quality and reliability.

Favorite Features

200hp 195lbf-ft V6, interior design, reliability, built quality, leather

Manual, slightly firmer suspension, 17" wheel

2001 Honda Accord EX 2dr Coupe (2.3L 4cyl 5M)

Review

We love our Accord coupe ("Heidi")!! The 2001 body style is sporty, yet elegant (especially in silver). Her V6 accelerates supremely when passing. She has a sliding/tilting sun roof that is great, as is the trunk room - very spacious for a car this size. The rear seating is tight for 3 older teenagers (triplets), but that didn't stop us from taking it on vacations and trips to see family out of state. When it comes down to it, what we like the most about Heidi is the sheer feeling of free-spiritedness that she gives us. At slightly over 100,000 miles, she still drives like a dream.

Favorite Features

I love the radio/CD control in the steering wheel. The leather interior is great, too. I can't count how many times (when I get out) that I turn around to take another look at the beautiful styling of this car. She's definitely a beaut!

Suggested Improvements

Re-design the plastic attachment device that attaches the panel onto the back of the front seats. Continued pressure of people leaning on this panel to get in and out of the back seat, puts stress on these four plastic holders until they become weak and break.

2001 Honda Accord EX V-6 2dr Coupe (3.0L 6cyl 4A)

Review

I LOVE THIS CAR! Hands down, one of the best values out there for the money. The only way you can get a nicer Honda is to buy an Acura. The V6 offers quite enough power for any driving conditions and the interior finish is well insulated and provides a nice comforable ride. I highly recommend this car for anyone looking for a luxury car at an economy car price.

Favorite Features

The V6 offers a great bump in power and makes the car seem much more like a sports car.

Suggested Improvements

*Better gearing on the transmission to take advantage of the V6 engine. *Digital/LCD clock and Odometer should be better designed to match the other EX features.

Review

Bought the vehicle new, have had no problems to date, Honda sent out 100,000 mile transmission warranties for problems the auto had to all buyers. I have yet had any problems with the trans. I did have to replace the coolant sooner that maint. req. The dealer recommends 30,000 intervals. Gas mileage is consistent, with the right oil. 5W-20 is recommended. I am getting 20 mpg in town, 29 hwy at 75mph. Have been very impressed with this vehicle, it just keeps getting better. Only draw back is poor paint quality on the hood and front bumper.

Favorite Features

Performance, it will run with the best of them, regularly run across Arizona, and New Mexico desert, and this car has no problem passing, or putting the miles down. I really enjoy being able to relax under the wheel at 85 mph, in a stable ride.

Suggested Improvements

Paint, front bumper chipped very easily, the maintence req. The dealer said it would go 100,000 miles before maint. the trans. fluid is 30,000 the coolant every 30,ooo Also the LX-V6 has speed rated tires, the michelins are expensive and you only get about 35,000 out of them.

Review

The build quality is outstanding--many American automobiles don't even come close. This is my second Honda; I expect the same dependability as the previous one I owned and have no doubt I will. The automobile is comfortable in both the front and back seats; I like the position and view from the driver's seat. Power windows, locks and mirrors add a level of luxury at a working man's price. The Honda Accord--Quality with a touch of luxury.

Favorite Features

Positioning of the driver's seat. Comfort of the seating Location of the controls; well-designed and intuitively within reach.

Suggested Improvements

Front cup holders not conveniently placed in the front seat.
