I just purchased a 2003 Honda Accord EX, 6 cyl auto for $24,250, $483 below TMV and $1,550 below MSRP.I researched car cost and dealer compensation using your web site before going to the dealer. When I shot the dealer a low offer and mentioned the 3% holdback, the salesman, without prompting, called up Edmunds.com on his computer. Your web site became the focus of our negotiations. Thanks for your vital service. It made a major difference in the price I paid.

Well, your site gave me a TMV of $21,465 for the 2004 Ford Escape I'm interested in. I had 2 dealers trying to outbid each other and then this morning a 3rd called and beat my previous best price by $100. My car cost $19,896!! Thank you. I just bought a 2003 Camry and enjoyed the buying process for the first time ever. I waited until the last two weeks of December to shop. I made a couple trips to dealers but decided to do the rest of my shopping on the phone. I got an $18,900 price on the car via the phone and when I took my old car in for a trade, the salesman offered less than half of what your site said my car was worth. I left the dealership and got a call the next day with the offer to meet your suggested trade-in value for my old car. On top of that, I got 0% financing for 2 years. I just wanted to provide some very positive feedback. I just purchased a new car and thanks to Edmunds and the TMV this was one of the most enjoyable car purchases I ever made. I got the vehicle at or below the TMV, got what I wanted for my trade (because I knew the value thanks to Edmunds), and had my financing already pre-approved through my credit union. Edmunds is an awesome consumer oriented service and those who do not use it run the risk of literally losing thousands of dollars on their car purchases. I spent countless hours on Edmunds.com searching for information. The site was invaluable in my quest for information on vehicle information, pricing, and availability at reputable dealers. The demand is so high and availability so low for the car I wanted, that if it weren't for Edmunds.com, I probably wouldn't have my new car now. I even found a nice gentleman on the forum who helped negotiate a good price for me with his dealer. The dealer in my area told me that invoice price was $3,000 more than Edmunds invoice price. Just wanted to thank the folks at Edmunds for keeping me from spending too much on my new 2004 Honda CR-V. I printed out the TMV value sheet and handed it to the salesman and then to his boss. Guess what? I got the car for the TMV price...under invoice on a very popular new Honda model. They admitted that they hated to see buyers with this information, but their actions show Edmunds does indeed provide true market value. THANKS EDMUNDS.COM!!

The information and on-line price quotes edmunds.com provided, gave us the tools to walk into the dealership and make a deal for $6,000 under MSRP, $800 UNDER dealer invoice and $2,500 under TMV. We took particular advantage of the "Incentives" information on your website.

I was able to do an extremely thorough review of cars in my target class, using your reviews, completely online, before driving a single one. I test drove only my resultant short list, and quickly converged on my ultimate choice. Thanks for the info. I appreciate your effort. A point of note is that I did not get any quotes from the local dealers that came anywhere near your TMV Optimal price so I gave up on them. However I kept looking on the internet and found Ford Fleet Direct Sales in Denver. I told them what I wanted and they came back with a price $400 over invoice. Fifteen dollars more than your TMV price. You did great. The accurate info really helped. Thanks again.

My husband and I recently purchased a Ford F-150. We went on your site and also purchased your book for cars and trucks at Barnes & Noble. We received on-line quotes for the vehicle we wanted to purchase. We went to Alan Vigil Ford with a quote from an on-line salesman of $27,880. We asked them could they meet or beat that price and they said yes. The truck we bought was listed at $29,788. However, with the tools you had given us we were able to drive out at $25,800! I would like to thank you for sharing all the information on your web site. I just purchased a 2003 Honda Accord; the price I paid was $380 over the web-shown invoice price. This was over $4,000 off the dealer sticker price and $2,155 off the MSRP price. It blew the COSTCO price out of the water. I would never have been able to get such a good deal if I had not researched the available information and gone around to different dealers and challenged them to beat the prices. One breakthrough I had was finding a car that had options installed that I wasn't interested in (sun visor, rear spoiler, and mud flaps). I was able to say I wasn't going to pay for something they had installed and I didn't want; there was dealer down the way that had the base model $1,000 less, so after seeing I wouldn't move on the price they beat the other dealer by $100. I still got up and said "Thanks, I told you I was just getting prices" and left. With their price with the options I was able to go back and get the base car for $1,150 less. The actual price I paid was $24,145 plus tax and licenses. Again, thanks for the help.

This was my second time using Edmunds, and I want to thank you for the valuable information you provide to the consumer. With your information, I narrowed my selection down from five models to just one, the Hyundai Santa Fe. I then picked my option group and accessories. When I took this info to the dealer, they found the vehicle I had specified. The talks broke down, however, when they wanted about $700 over invoice. On a hunch, I returned to your site, entered the zip code for Alexandria, VA, and found a dealership. I called them and explained the situation on a Thursday night, and met them half-way (about three hours away), signed the papers and took delivery of my Santa Fe GLS with sunroof. I had about 400 miles on the vehicle and a few hours of driving time under my belt, but I also had over $500 still in my wallet! After all was figured, I had only paid $160 over actual invoice. A great deal, in my opinion!

With my wife and I expecting our second child, it was obvious to us that the 1990 Honda Accord EX just was not sufficient for our needs. When my brother and a friend approached me about buying a vehicle together, we figured that we could get a great deal by approaching a dealer with the chance of selling three vehicles at once.

After months of research on Edmunds.com and negotiating with dealers, I really thought that no dealer was willing to negotiate a sale of the Honda Odyssey no matter how many buyers would come through the door. They seemed to think that the Odyssey could sell itself. Well, it's a good thing for the 2004 Toyota Sienna because that seemed to shake things around. I wanted an Odyssey, but since the 2003 Sienna was being offered at a discount, I was leaning toward that.

Fortunately for me, my younger brother was set on getting an Odyssey; I left the negotiating to him, and when he approached another dealer on buying three vehicles, they gave us a price we couldn't refuse. They faxed us the order forms with the price and the VIN #s of the vehicles. We went to the dealer and signed the deal. My brother actually got in touch with someone on the Internet who also wanted in on the deal and I think he got the same vehicle as the rest of us. So the dealer sold four 2003 Honda Odysseys with DVD.

Your input furnished the ammo I needed to capture the best deal, ever, on my 2003 Honda Civic EX sedan! With your advice, I sat at the "dealing" table on January 31, and was prepped by the salesman that he'd get a bonus on this day! That's what you told me! I opened up my notes, but had researched your site for weeks, and pretty much had it down pat.

My offer was a $4000 risk- this under the sticker price, but the dealer accepted it without one counter offer! I've used Edmunds.com to research my last two car purchases and know I got a WAY better deal than I would have without you. My wife and I just bought a 2000 Dodge Durango SLT+ at a local car dealer this weekend, trading in our well-liked but well-used 1992 Plymouth Voyager. We liked the Durango for its size, looks and price range but were even more assured by the high marks it got in the Edmunds comparison test.

So I did my homework, kicked a few tires and checked lots of ads to get a feel for local prices (which, in the Dallas area, seem to be well below the Edmunds average TMVs already). I got pre-approved for a great loan rate (60 mos. at 4.99%) through my credit union, and used one of those online loan calculators to figure out exactly how much we could spend within our budget. I also re-read the sections on Edmunds.com on dealer sales tactics, to give myself a 'pep talk' before taking the plunge. It all worked: We got exactly the deal we wanted, even though they threw the book at us — from the "low, no hassle" price (hmm... it was exactly the same as Blue Book retail!), to low balling the trade, to "have you considered a lease?" to "my sales manager's just going to kick me out with that offer," to begging for $250 cash down over and above the trade-in, among others.

Like most people, I hate negotiating a car sale but know it's necessary to get the best deal. Thanks to Edmunds.com, we were able to stay calm, stick to our bottom line, and drive out smiling with our new (to us) Durango!

My wife and I recently purchased a new 2002 Ford Explorer Sport. The rebate incentives reported by Edmunds were key in our decision to purchase either a new 2002 or 2003 model. We also traded in our 1998 F-150. We had printed out the TMV for both the truck and the Explorer. The dealer tried to offer us 3,000 LESS than the trade in value but when my wife calmly handed them the Edmunds print out that showed the true value, they conceded! We also got the Explorer for exactly what it was worth. All in all, it was the most hassle-free and fair experience with buying a car that we have ever had. I love your website! It helped us sell our previous car and purchase our new one. After hours of research we decided on the 4Runner and have a great success story.

We purchased our 2003 V6 SR5 4WD Toyota 4Runner with the option package ~ 17" aluminum wheels, roof rack with cross bars and carpeted floor mats for $29, 682 about $250 less than TMV! MSRP was $31,014.

We contacted 4 Toyota dealerships looking for the vehicle we wanted, we wanted a V6 without a sunroof. Once we found it, we talked directly with the internet sales manager, who was the general sales manager of the dealership.
