Overall

RATING

Between its comfortable ride, versatile interior and solid towing and hauling capability, the Yukon XL is one of the best all around full size SUVs on the market.

DETAILED EDITORS' RATINGS

Dynamics

RATING

Engines deliver solid power, excellent refinement and flexible fuel capability. Handling is about what you would expect for a full size SUV. Comfortable in off road situations. 2500 models offer heavy-duty towing and hauling capability.

Comfort

RATING

Excellent ride quality and quiet cabin makes for a very comfortable drive on the highway. Other than slight offset of the driver's seat from the gauges, most drivers find it easy to get comfortable. Third row seats have good legroom, but are too low to be comfortable for long drives.

Function

RATING

Very functional cabin with logical controls and easily accessible storage space. Secondary steering wheel controls are easy to use and the cupholders are right where they should be. Suburban's added length over Tahoe shows up in the cargo bay as there's plenty of space even with third row seats in place.

Design/Build Quality

RATING

A little dull looking on the outside, but panel fit is good. Interior design is upscale looking and well laid out.

DETAILED PROFILE:

Family Friendly With room for up to nine, the Suburban is the carpooling king. Leave out the third row seats and there's massive interior cargo room. Any way it's configured, the Suburban is an outstanding road trip vehicle.

Comfortable Very quiet interior. Add in the soft seats and the quiet ride and you can go a long way without getting uncomfortable.

Towing Capable Available heavy-duty 2500 model offers towing and hauling capabilities on par with many pickup trucks.

Cargo Hauler With third row seats removed and second row folded, the Suburban offers over 130 cubic feet of cargo space.
