Summary

What Edmunds.com says

One of our favorite big SUVs, thanks to strong engines, a smooth ride and excellent functionality and feature content.

Pros

Huge interior, strong lineup of V8 engines, available Quadrasteer four-wheel steering system, extensive list of optional features.

Cons

Some cheap interior materials considering the price, bulky size makes it unwieldy for daily use.

What's New for 2005

Revisions for 2005 include a new optional touchscreen navigation system. Rear barn doors are no longer available, as all models now come with an overhead rear liftgate (with separate liftglass).

This vehicle rides amazing well for it's size. Gets better gas mileage than some of the smaller competing models. More cargo space than you can use and wonderful ride. Did I mention how smooth the ride is? The Denali is an awesome vehcile.

Favorite Features

The ride. Audio system is sweet as well.

2005 GMC Yukon XL Denali AWD 4dr SUV (6.0L 8cyl 4A)

Review

This is my 2nd Yukon XL and my first Denali and this one has been my best vehicle I have ever owned in the 27 years that I have been driving. The comfort can't be beat. We've driven it from Maine to Florida and back and had not complaints. The power is there when you need it and the gas mileage isn't bad for the size vehicle it is and the comfort. I have had no issues with mechanical problems and it's never broken down on me at all. I recommend this vehicle to anyone who wants a lot of vehicle for their money. This beats any import out there as well! Solid vehicle.

Favorite Features

Power, comfort of the captains chairs, no blind spots, reliability of the GMC product.

Suggested Improvements

Back up assist/camera, flip seats into the floor for the 3rd row seat for more cargo space for large items.

2005 GMC Yukon XL 1500 SLT Rwd 4dr SUV (5.3L 8cyl 4A)

Review

It's a great car/truck. More space than I now know what to do with. All the pros of a truck with the driving ability and comfort of a car. This is my second Yukon XL SLT. You can get just about anything into this vehicle and have room to spare. Gas mileage is great for a full size SUV. I have two young boys so the leather is great, making clean-up a breeze. No complaints here!

Favorite Features

Love the OnStar (had to use it), the seat position memory, the adjustable accelerator and brake, accessory controls on the steering wheel

Suggested Improvements

Though the gas mileage is good, I'd like to not spend so much every time I fill-up

Review

Great SUV. For a big SUV I get great gas mileage,19 in town and over 21 on the road. Much better than a comparable Suburban which is the reason I bought the GMC instead of the Suburban.

Favorite Features

Heated power seats

Suggested Improvements

None needed. I'm waiting a year or so to get the new body Yukon XL.

Review

We've owned 2 in a row. I thought the 1st one was a lemon. This truck is the reason for GM troubles! If you plan on towing a heavy trailer 100% of the time, this is one solid vehicle. The other 99.9% of the consumers, stay away from it! If you transport 7 passengers, go buy a minivan. This truck will far exceed your monthly payment in gas consumption and will make you poor. It's hard to park, and believe me, you're not bragging to anyone by driving one. People feel sorry for you at the pump! Basically, a very expensive, low quality, gas-hogging beast all around. Buttons peel off, leather seats wear out in 12k miles. This car is 100% what a European or Asian car is not. It's a $45k shame!

Favorite Features

Great for towing. Traditional V8 engine, long wheelbase. Very strong! Remarkable Bose stereo sound.

Suggested Improvements

The control buttons peel off, seat leather cracks, steering wheel peels off all in less than 20k miles. Don't get caught without a warranty on this one! There has to be a better way to propel a vehicle like this without owning a gas station!
