Well there's only one reason disc brakes squeak on any vehicle and that's the fact that the back of the brake pad is metal, usually cheap carbon steel, and only because its only function is to hold the brake lining material in place as the steel back is secured into the caliper by whatever means the auto manufacturer has designed, and it is in contact with the piston ... I feel your pain! I have a 2004 Yukon with no instrument cluster and now I have the same problem...did you ever find a solution??? My husband is very good w/vehicles and is at his witts end....high payment, cant afford $365.00 for the cluster let alone to fix this...Im going to have to let it go back. I have a 2001 GMC Yukon XL. It has around 73K miles on it. The brakes squeak almost every time they are applied. I have had them checked at 2 different places and my husband even looked at the pads with the mechanics, who both told him that they brake pads and rotors were fine, and did not need replacing. I have a 2001 denali and will be getting it out of the shop tomorrow. My tranny took a dump that cost me $3900 to rebuild. It was more than a standard rebuild. my mechanic said it wore out things that should not have worn out. Is there any success inj talking with GMC corporate or is it a waste of time??? not sure what to do, any input would be great thanks Read More...

Can anyone help, have a 2001 GMC Yukon XL and I love it. Has 108k and runs great. However, when trying to engage A/C system at start up engine begins to surge, A/C blows warm air, and on occasion causes the engine to stall. I traded my 1999 Denali in June with 70,000 miles and praying that it would make it to a dealership that sold imports. The GMC person that I talked to wouldn't offer me one penny towards repairs.
