Just dropped off my 2006 Yukon Denali at the mechanic with 66,000 miles. Transmission is toast. It is slipping when trying to take off, especially on a hill, and makes a squealing noise, as if 2 plates are trying to clutch together. While driving, it suddenly revs as the tranny slips. What a shame that the transmission only lasted 66K miles. I have loved the car until now. A high end ... Read More
Christina, I too am experiencing the same issues with door lock actuators (two in this case - drivers door, passenger side rear door). I also have a door handle that is coming out of the door (drivers side rear door, normal use). The vehicle is a 2008 GMC Yukon XL Denali. Vin - 1GKFK66818J175694, mileage is 73k, dealer is Greenwood in Hollister, CA. Please advise as this is the top of ... Read More
Bought a basic yukon brand new in april 2006. Like everyone else had problems with car dying out and changed battery. Then one day my remotes to open doors stopped working. Then dash shut down and all meters do not read anything. I took it to the dealership and I am going to get a bum deal because warranty is expired (but they cant even figure out my mileage!!!). Any how, ... Read More
Hello. I have a 2002 GMC Sierra Denali that i have had almost exactly the same problems with mine as with your. I have a 6.0(used) because the first one took water into the motor throught the intake and threw a rod out of the back of the block. Now the replacement motor is from a 2006 unlike yours which is from a 2005 but i have the same problem. It ... Read More
Does anyone know what would cause the transmission not to got into 3rd gear . it goes into 1st and second fine. Is there a solenoid on the tranny that controls this or is it inside
A 2006 Yukon Denali weights around 6000-lbs, depending on how your particular vehicle is equipped... The best way to tell is to check the sticker on your driver side door jam. Unfortunately, even a base model Yukon (with 2-WD) weight-in at 5000+lbs, will be unsafe on your lift/elevator...
I have a 2006 Yukon /Denali, I need to know the approx. weight of the vehicle because my parking garage can't put more the 4000 lbs. on the elavator.
I had a similar problem with my 2004 yukon denali xl. It died 4 times in the first 6 months of owning it. It was in and out of the dealership with all kinds of repairs, reprogramming and replacements in addition to an examination by a special GMC engineer. Even he couldn't determine the cause of the problem. I finally wrote a letter to Rick Wagoner since I was getting nowhere. ... Read More
I think the loud popping sound has to do with the Intermediate Shaft (or I-Shaft), it can be heard as well as felt (if I am not mistaken) in the steering wheel and/or the steering column area. Hope I am still on track to what you have experienced so far. If yes, you may verify and consider the possibility of replacing the Upper I-Shaft Assembly (Bulletin #00-02-35-003M), where I recall quite ... Read More
I started this thread last August 2006. Since they replaced my Throttlebody I have not had the "Reduced Engine Power" problem. It's been 9 months now and trouble free. It turned out it was the throttlebody all along but the GMC mechanics did a lousy job of fixing it the first few times in that they didn't notice that they had crimpped some wire when they installed it causing it to ... Has anyone had a rear hatch handle fail on the Yukon XL? I own a 2005 Yukon XL that was purchased in February, 2005. In August, 2006 the rear hatch handle failed for the first time. Since the vehicle had 46000 miles on it, it was not covered under warranty. At the time I paid for it. Fast forward to March 2007 and the same part failed again. Eight months later. ... Read More
I need some new floormats for my '06 Yukon XL and have an opportunity to get some new ones from an '07 at a great price. However, can someone tell me if GMC has changed the interior so much that they are not interchangeable?? Thanks!
I would be happy to work up a sample lease payment on this truck using GMAC's actual lease program, tryingtolearn, if you provide me with its full MSRP and selling price. Both numbers are necessary to the calculation. Having both will also enable me to see how much of a discount you are being given on this truck so that I can give you my opinion of this deal. I purchased my 2006 Yukon last September 2005. I now have 24,000 miles on it. Over the last month I have had it into the dealer three times for the same problem. The problem is that while driving the vehicle it will suddenly lose almost all power. The Information Center will display the messages: "Stability Control Disabled", "Engine Power Reduced". And the vehicle will not go over 20 mph on a ... Read More
I bought my 2006 Yukon last September 2005. Within a month I brought it back to the dealer due to a creaking sound coming from the suspension. I experienced it when braking and weight was tranfered forward on the front suspension and also when turning or going over speed bumps (at very slow speed 2 to 3 mph). The dealer replaced some suspension bushings and the problem went away but only ... Read More
Hi Keisha40, since your question wasn't about a squeak, I've moved it to the problems discussion. Here's the link: keisha40, "GMC Yukon/Yukon Denali Problems" #471, 15 Aug 2006 8:07 am Please continue over there. Thanks,
I bought a 2006 Yukon XL Denali in Dec came with 17" tires/wheels. I replaced with 22's. Any idea what i can sell the 17 GMC mfg tires and wheels?
Check out your CarSpace page for an easy way to post photos of your Yukon. Goose, I moved your tires question over to goose63, "GMC Yukon / Yukon Denali Tires" #2, 17 Jul 2006 4:29 pm.
Actually I just moved the thread over there since it involves the same vehicles. Please pick it up there Sfaraday. sfaraday, "Ford Excursion vs Chevy Suburban/GMC Yukon XL - The battle of the titans" #417, 15 Jun 2006 10:50 pm Steve, Host
Picked up my 2007 Denali on 5/2/2006. Black on black, nav, 2nd row buckets, 22" wheels. You can buy the chrome GMC for the grill for about $65.00. Dealer charged me another $55 to put it on (probably ripped me off) :) . Really looks great!
Hi im new too this forum i just purchased a 2006 gmc Yukon. I love it i have only one problem. Inbetweek 45 and 50 MPH i get this weird noise. it almost sounds like a grinding noise for a few seconds. then it goes away. it only happens it you are on the throttle a little bit. at about 1200 rpm. i only have about 1200 miles on the truck. ... I'm not crazy about the new Tahoe/Yukon exterior. It looks too "modern" I guess, plastic bumpers are not as "trucky" as the chrome on the current versions. Plus plastic gets all scratched up. At least it's not covered in Rubbermaid like the Avalanche. Someone who posted earlier read my mind. It looks like a big TrailBlazer, or worse... an Uplander... The GMC is not much better. The Escalator might be better, ... Read More
"Anyway you cut it, GM's current full-size sport-utilities, launched in model-year 2000, are king of the big SUV hill, even if the steady increase in gasoline prices and competition threaten erosion in that hill." GM's new Full Size SUVs (Inside Line) Talk about it in the 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe/GMC Yukon discussion. Steve, Host
Well, the current Tahoe/Yukon date back to 2000 when they were completely overhauled. They have been tweaked here and there, but there's no hiding their age. The next generation Yukon/Tahoe really have to be good to compete against the Expedition/Armada/Sequoia and the other numerous crossovers. In addition to redesigning the Tahoe/Yukon, GM is also redesigning the Silverado, Sierra, Escalade, EXT, ESV, Avalanche, Suburban and Yukon XL. They will be on sale ... Read More
Anyone know if GMC will be changing body styles on their SUVs (Yukon Denali in particular) in 2006? If so, any pix out there?
