It seems like this is a major issue with the transmission. I have just had the second one go out. Had the first one replaced at the local GMC dealer here in Montgomery, Alabama at 600 miles "outside of the original warranty", my cost $3500. Now, Tuesday this week, November 29, 2001 at 160k, vehicle won't move. Was working just fine, parked, went to leave, no reverse, no forward gear, nothing. ... Read More

I have posted some questions regarding my 2002 Yukon Denali XL and the problems it has been having for 15 months. I too have a 2002 Yukon Denali XL. Important. If you have to replace a your 02' IACV, GMC will make you buy the WHOLE Throttle Body Assembly @ a cost of $850 bucks. They will not sell you the IACV individually, and you can not buy it new from any WEB SIGHT parts house. The ones they claim FIT, ARE THE WRONG APPLICATION! FYI!
I have a 2002 suburban and though the fronts are a little different it may work about the same but not sure. That being said, on the sub the light assembly just pulls forward and out. My Yukon has done the same on cold start since I bought it at 44K miles. Now 156K, it may have gotten slightly worse over the years but clears in about 30 seconds. I have a GM dealer in the family and will inquire about GM's practice on notifying dealers and dealers' retention requirements of such communications.
Your wheel speed sensors need to be cleaned. It is a pretty simple repair by the dealer but time consuming. The dealers don't seem to like making the repair though. Hi - I have an 2004 Yukon that needs a new transmission - how did you get GMC to cover 60%???? thanks.
Yes I would recommend Jasper. Make sure you get the three year/30K warranty. UPDATE: GMC (customer service) paid me 60% of the $3000.00 tranny repair bill even with it being OUT of warranty. Gotta love those guys~!

I had a similar sounding problem in an '05 XL with 12K miles. Ended up, there was water intrusion into the transmission. It was caused by water running into the transmission dipstick. GMC ended up putting a diverter in to run the water away from that area. haven't had a problem since.
I just bought a 2002 GMC Yukon. The heating in rear works great but, up front it blows cold air when heat is turned all the way up.
