I am considering removing the existing rearend and installing a rearend from either a 1999 or 2004 GMC Denali, which have the same gear ratio and same 8-1/2" ring gear size. I have a 2004 Denali XL that has a squeek at the front but it's not the brakes. The squeek only comes from a full stop to about 30mph while accelerating. When it rains for a few days the squeek goes away untill it gets hot and dry. Can anyone tell me where to start looking.

My 2004 Yukon XL tranny just went out at 80K miles. Never pulled anything...always treated kindly...and boom...the tranny is gone. Really makes me sick. This was a great truck until yesterday. I thought about calling GMC but I know they won't help. Oh well, I am having a Jasper remanufacture installed and will drive till it drops...which may not be too long~!

I wouldn't worry about it being from Mexico at all...that'a a good thing, at least in my view. We used to have an '02 Avalanche out of the same plant in Mexico and it was drum-tight, problem-free, and had perfect paint. That's pretty much the same for most every truck that comes out of Mexico.
