Brian & Forum, Seeing as you posted over a month ago, you ever get to the bottom of this issue? My 2000 S-10 ZR2 (similar set-up) is doing the exact same RPM hunting (occurs under light loads, esp. around 45mph, and most often when not fully warmed up). This started about the time my transmission started slipping a little on take-off (I now get a check engine light with the code ... Read More

I have had this RPM problem for some time now. The RPM's jump. Most noticeable at slow acceleration and steady speeds below 65mph. The rpm's jump about 300 to 500 rpms but drop immediately. A mechanic said the ignition coil and coil wire. I tried a new coil and new wires and no luck. A month goes by and the truck shut down. Wouldnt start. Towed it in and the same ... Read More

99 GMC Sonoma 4.3L V-6 Obviously your PCM is detecting misfires but cannot isolate a perticular problem. On your model it is usally a dirty or bad connection at the crank sensor, or an intermittant problem with fuel pressure. Here is an explanation. The PCM interprets irractic changes in the pulses coming from the crank sensor as misfires. Basically, your vehicle skips a beat due to any number of reasons and ... Read More

Just got a 1999 Sonoma extended cab 2.2L 4cyl. It seems as though this engine is not strong enough for this truck. I had a 96 2.2 standard trans. and it will easily out preform this newer truck which is automatic. Anyone know if I can replace this engine with a V6? Will it match up with the trans. in the truck. How much should it cost? Any help?
