I have a 2005 GMC Sierra K-1500 with the towing package. The factory hitch indicates a capacity of 5,000 lbs with 600 lb tongue load. I have to pull my '68 Camaro on a U-haul auto transport that is listed at a weight of 2,000 pounds and the Camaro is somewhere between 3,000 and 3,500 pounds (title says 3,100 but who knows if that is exactly right). One is located on the front differental housing, this is the easy one to replace. I have a 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab. I've had the lube "fix" twice - most recently within the past 400 miles. I'm experiencing the same shimmy - like my wheels are coming loose - whenever I'm on a rough or bumpy road. Front end was just aligned, and the mechanic did not report any deficiency. Dale, I experienced the same problem with my 2005 1500 Sierra. I have the extended cab 4x4. At around 6,000 miles I noticed a vibration only in the steering wheel, not so much in the brake pedal though. I took it to a local dealership. The service techs test drove it and diagnosed the problem as "warped rotors" due to lateral run-out. Gave me a quote of around $170.00 ... Read More...

I have a 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 4wd, just recentley installed K & N cold intake kit and then programmed with Hypertech programmer, while programming a dtc(diagnostic trouble code) came up (B0229) Is there a web site where i can go to to check what this code is? Yes, I have definitely heard about it. Not only have I heard about it, but my father is thinking about purchasing a 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 Z71 (loaded) before the discount runs out. I just bought a 2005 gmc sierra with the 5.3 l. It was a 4 door, 1500. Today, it caught on fire and burned almost completely up. The fire marshall seemed to think that it was caused by an electrical short somewhere in the dash. What would you do and has anyone else had a similar problem. Read More...
