2001 GMC sierra 2500 HD diesel with allison, total brake failure at 36k miles rotors and calipers, dealer fixed reluctantly, ONE MONTH LATER AFTER WARRANTY RAN OUT total failure again, rusted out lines from master cylinder on (truck 3 yrs old) fixed at $250. then front wheel bearings at 21k and 36k both front dealer installed, next brake lines under cab at 40k miles, now at 50k miles total brake failure ... I am not sure its the front rotors and calipers ...are a problem.. but rather the symptom. I have put new rear calipers from SSBC on my 2003 GMC Sierra, not sure it matters what type, but rather the rear calipers are swapped for something that works. I also added brake SS-lines. I own a 2001 gmc sierra hd, and i have the same problem. The engine is running great, then suddenly stall. After 5 minutes it's start back. The engine light doesn't comes on. Since you had quite the same problem, did you find a solution or the cause of this problem. Thank you!
2500 HD 4x4 Transfer case problem

I recently developed an oil leak. I found the leak coming from the transfer case. Took my truck to the dealer they confirmed that the leak was from the transfer case. They said " something had shifted in side causing the gears to contact the case causing it to rub and wear away the case " I had the truck repaired by replacing the case new seals etc.( i inspected the ... Just about every hill I climbed caused the cooling fan to come on. My temp. guage didn't budge off 190 degrees the whole time. Just received word last week that GMC is going to buy back my 2001 Sierra 2500 HD Ext Cab under the Georgia Lemon Law. My attorney told me I should expect notice to deliver the truck back to a GM Dealer within 10 days and should have a check for full purchase price less prorated mileage within 10 days after that!!! Fuel tank replacement

Hi, I have the shortbed GMC 2001 2500 Sierra Ex. cab w,8100/Allison. I am thinking about replacing the 26 gal. fuel tank with a 45 gal. tank that mounts on the chassis that Transfer Flow makes. Has anyone gone this route yet with their shortbed and if so how easy or hard was the transition.

I too have experienced on rare occasions something like a slip or something not engaging in the drive system. It seems like something is slipping in the differential but I'm not sure..I have the Limited Slip option...Maybe they meant unlimited slip??? :)Anyonw with ideas?

I kinda wish I had traded my 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 Ext 4x4 SLT, for a 2000 GMC Sierra 2500 CC SB 4x4, 6.5L, SLT, loaded. My 2000 2500EC with the HD suspension and trailer towing package has got the oversize disc brakes with the "dynamic proportioning valve" you speak of. Folks can argue about anything they want on these trucks, but if they don't think this is the most awsome braking system ever on a pickup truck, they better get them checked out because something must be wrong.
