I have a 2000 GMC Savana conversion passanger van, and the sending unit for the gas tank sticks at 3/4 tank. I didn't know this until the 1st time I ran out of gas. The fuel pump works fine, but I still want to get fixed. The dealer part is about $200 + Labor. Does this unit cross to any other vehicle that I can get? Other than the GMC dealer, ... Read More

we own multiple 3500 long wheelbase work vans and have found them to be extremely efficient and reliable. Our favorite one is a 2000 Savana with 101,000 all city miles and over 4000 hours of stationary operation at 1700 rpm (equivalent to 50 mph!). This vehicle has original engine with ALL accessories, orig. trans, etc. It's repair history is a fuel pump and periodic brake work. These vans all weigh out ... Read More

"GMC's Savana full-size, rear- or four-wheel-drive van is the subject of two recalls, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced. The GMC van and its Chevy Express counterpart are being recalled first for a problem with a hydraulic fluid pump under the hood. If it fails and the hood is open, fragments could hurt people standing nearby; when driving, it could affect power braking and steering. Some 155,000 vehicles, including ... Read More

An interesting thought hit me regarding what may be a possible cause of the fast failure rate for the mirrors. One cause may be road vibration, but a more likely cause is using a high pressure wand while washing your van. I have done it myself, 1500 or more psi pointed at the mirrors even 3 feet away is a tremendous amount of force, especially when the surface area of that ... Read More

I'm in the HVAC service business and purchased a new 2000 Savana 3500 van in 4/00. I drove Fords for 8 years when working for someone else, but I'm a GM man so I chose the GMC. I took the van in at 12k miles for a front end alignment but you had to pay $175 because it didn't happen in the first 7k. A few months go by and my ... Read More

My 2000 1500 savana has been in for warranty work five times. The steering/front end problem is the hardest to understand. The steering did not feel right from the first day I drove it. The feeling in the steering wheel was like something was loose or similar to a worn steering gear, and also a vibration/shudder when turning. The dealer rotated the tires and later replaced the steering gearbox, nothing helped. now I ... Read More
