Just checking to see owners' experiences on this. The old adage used to be "Replace the belt at 60K miles or pay a lot to replace the water pump too". Is this still true today? My wife took in the truck to the local "Precision Tune" place and they wanted to replace the belt immediately (for $$$) of course. Later I visually inspected the belt (not exhaustively, just the part I ... Read More
On my 2002 XL , the key is stuck in the ignition and the ingition will not start the engine (seems to be a security system issue) nor will it turn backward to the auxiliary/accessory position to come out. Is this a faulty ignition problem or security system disabling the starter and preventing the key from being removed. How is it corrected? Are there any recalls or alerts on this issue? ... Read More
Did you end up suing them or getting anything from GM? I have the same problem - the dealer in Santa Clara CA quote about $900 for the repair, including $490 for the part (gmpartsdirect.com price is $195 including shipping/handling!). I am getting it fixed at an independent whose labor rate is about 25% cheaper. My 2002 GMC Envoy XL SLT has about 55K miles on it.
my 2002 Envoy xl, windshield wipers will not turn off. When the problem first started, if I turned the wipers off, then the engine, after cooling down, the wipers will go off, once the car is restarted. Now they won't go off at all. Where is the wiper fuse? Is there a relay problem. Can the wipers be disconnected, until needed? Any recalls? Thanks, AFF
BTW I should add that this is a 2002 GMC Envoy XL SLT with the automatic climate control option. Any suggestions which screws to remove (see pics below): Pic 1: Pic 2: Pic 3:
