I have a 2004 Colorado with 58,000 miles on it. It runs very well, yet it clatters terribly at idle and when i throttle up. I have not had my check engine light come on at all since the last time i brought it to the dealer. The last time it had a miss, and the light came on. I have a 2004 GMC Canyon 4 dr and I have experenced this problem. I am in Minnesota so its cold here 5 months out of the year. I did some trouble shooting and this is what I found on my vehicle. i would take it to a different dealer to investigate or talk to the manager and have them investigate all GM bulletins regarding this issue. the dealer i took it to is following the protocal of a GM bulletin. my truck is currently being repaired for a similar problem. mine was not as bad as yours. i only had a rough idle and check engine light. i took it in directly to ... I have a 2004 Colorado 5-cyl. w/46000 miles, and am having the same problems you described. I was told yesterday that the head is on back order from GM, and is not expected until March 1st. Got a 2004 Canyon 5-cyl. w/ 41000 miles on it. The check engine light came on and it feels like it's running on 3 cylinders. Took it to the dealer and they said that there is a problem with the valves. The entire head and valves needed to be replaced at a cost of $3200. Hey I have the same problem I have a 06 Crew cab 4x4. My gas gauge first started saying i had half tank then it would go to empty then re start and would say empty . Then next day just stayed on empty had half tank in it .Took it in they replaced the fuel pump module and the sensor , they called me and said it was still saying empty. so they are looking into it some more . You could have a bad gauge, or a problem in the wiring harness between the fuel sender in the fuel tank and the gauge. Bad grounding in the circuit will cause erroneous readings too. Read More...
