Denso Air Filter for 1994 Geo Prizm?
Written by: geoblue on Jan 28, 2011 11:53:34 AM
Will W0133-1628223 (Denso air filter) fit 1994 Geo Prizm? Parts stores catalogs say no.But both Corolla and Prizm of 1993-1997 have the same engines, air filter housing. Right? I got the Denso filter, tried putting it in, it almost fits but apparently GM put a tiny plastic in the air filter housing to force its customers use AC Delco filters only. Any experiences with fitting this Denso filter in 1993-1997 Geo ... Read More

Ihy, Some model years of Saturn Vue has Honda engines/transmissions on them. 'Hold it! This is basically the same cast aluminum VTEC variable-valve-timing-equipped mill and five-speed automatic Honda drops into the $36,200 Acura MDX and $27,560 Honda Pilot LX, as well as the Honda Odyssey. Bolted into the $24,810 Saturn Vue (base price is $24,185, plus $395 for curtain airbags, $150 for an upgraded stereo, and $80 for floor mats), doesn't ... Read More

Thanks for the info, everybody. Besides the Prizm and Vibe, are there other cars made by Toyota or Honda that have American brand names? And where can I find a list of these kinds of cars? (And you're right about the Prizm being a great used car value. I saw one just posted on Craigslist and was all scheduled to go for a test drive the next day. But somebody came ... Read More

Prizm's initial price was lower but Toyota Corolla's resale value is much better because of the name. Yes, which makes it a great used car.

The Prizm had "small cosmetic differences, a GM Delco radio, and the lack of a rear stabilizer bar". Also, the difference was the initial price paid and the resale value. Prizm's initial price was lower but Toyota Corolla's resale value is much better because of the name.

Yes, the Prizm is a Corolla except for a few body parts, interior trim pieces, and a very few other parts - nothing major. The Prizm was built right beside the Corolla in the Fremont, CA Nummi plant. You can definitely take it to a Toyota dealer, and they will have almost all of the parts. A family member had a Prizm, great car, definitely a Corolla with a Geo name. ... Read More

You will find most all Toyota dealerships do repairs and/or service on all makes and models of cars, not just Toyotas.

1997 Geo Prizm vs. Toyota Corolla
Written by: lhy on Mar 19, 2009 2:32:43 PM
I've heard that a Geo Prizm is basically a Toyota Corolla except with a Chevy Geo label. If so, do they share everything the same (powertrain, body, electrical, etc) or just the engine? And in terms of maintenance, would a Toyota dealership be able to service and repair a Prizm, even though the line is now defunct? The specific model I'm interested in is a 1997 Geo Prizm Lsi 1.8L, with ... Read More

I purchased a 1997 Geo Prizm about five months ago. Just recently right after I start it up the engine sounds louder and there is a slight vibration. This happens when in "park" and in "reverse". After the engine warms up and I drive for awhile the noise goes away and it purrs like a kitten. Can you tell me if there may be a problem or what I can do ... Read More

Actually, I ran into the same problem about the different gaps. I called NGK tech support and they told me I should use the gap stated in the manual as they get their information from third parties and sometimes they are wrong. The 1997 Geo Prizm manual on page 6-65 under "Replacement Parts" states that the gap should be 0.031 inch (0.8mm) I will use 0.031 spark plug gap instead of ... Read More

No u don't have to r/r climate control, use industrial strength adhesive remover to unstick climate control linkage, clean surface, then re-attach, with stronger adhesive, such as appriate type of Epoxy.Find Epoxy at Auto part store., If ur initial attempt fails to remove adhesive, because the glue has leaked into climate control linkage lever slot, remove dashboard and center console, to axcess climate control mechanism, take it apart, use adhesive remover ... Hi, I am looking at a 97 Geo Prizm. This car has 62k, auto, AC, Cass, looks very good and drives very well. I ran a VIN check, no problem was reported except for that it was a rental car from 1997/02 to 1999/09. I am a little worried about it. The dealer offered me $5700. Suppose this is a very reliable car. But a rental worries me somewhat.

Hello, I'll looking for information on the 1997 Geo Prizm. I currently own a 1990 Geo Prizm and I love. But it's getting old and kind of junky looking. So, I'm looking at buying a 1997 Geo Prizm and was wondering if the 1997 has any of the quirks my 1990 has. Such as: Problems with the window assembly being very weak. I roll the window down a little and it ... Read More
