  • Check Engine Soon light but no codes to diagnose

    Written by: penny4yerthots on Jun 29, 2011 11:48:13 AM

I just purchased a 1997 Geo Metro and when I ran it through emissions it failed because the Check Engine Soon light is on but there were no codes listed to diagnose the problem. I've disconnected the battery cables to see if it would reset but that didn't work. The gas cap is on correctly and tightly. Any suggestions?

Well, I looked up this claim, and found to my surprise that it is right! Apparently, the 1989-96 Geo Metros were made with fuel filters; but the 1997-2001 Chevy Metros did not have fuel filters. Instead of an external fuel filter, they had a fuel pump with a filter screen in the fuel tank. Here's a link to a photo of the 2000 Metro 4 cylinder in tank fuel pump and ... Read More

My daughter has a 97 metro that has been a problem child from day 1. I am trying to get this thing tradable. The heater fan will only work on the highest setting, and the stereo doesn't work.Is there another fuse box somewhere in this car besides the ones under the hood? I find no labeling for the heater fan, or the radio on those boxes.
