What I would like to hear is what where your test results from the last message that I sent. Did you ground terminal 2 on the Fuel pump relay and did the car start up? ECMís are on the right side of dash. Usually just take out glove box. I still donít think you need ECM. It still sounds like that power supply has melted a wire some ware causing a ... Read More
I checked deeper into the interchangeability of the two cars. 1995 and newer Metros with 1.0 L did not have A/T. All Brakes, Rotors, Pads, Struts, Calipers, are all the same on 2 door, and 4 door cars with 3 or 4 cyl engines. (Most likely all the same Wheel bearings). I believe the wheel base is longer on 4dr GEO also. I wasnít ready to say cut open the harness ... Read More
You can buy parts like rocker arms for your Metro from a Chevrolet dealer. But if the reason you think your car needs rocker arms is because they are making clicking noises; it is probably not coming from bad rocker arms. Instead, clicking noises in the Metro's valve gear usually come from bad hydraulic valve lifters. Many small cars do not use hydraulic valve lifters; but the Metro does. These lifters ... Read More
Thanks for the reply. Will take note of that. I saw this ad.It was a 97 metro they were selling it for 1995$.It still has a good paint from the picture. I will have a look at it.
some auto parts stores can look at bolt and tell you what size and will open a few to get it right or they can let you use theirs to fix it or find right size.
Hello zaken1 Mljwire here; (Les) I have done your suggested testing on the rough idle and loss of gas mileage on my 95 Geo. I am not sure about the issues I found with the TPS and I now believe the rough idle is actual slow idle as described in the idle air valve check. 1995 Geo Metro 1.0 Manual 5 speed A/C VIN# 2C1MR2267S6785502 Manufactured in Canada. 6/94 Complies to ... hey red, i wouldnt chance it. i had a 1995 3 cyl stick metro before and you only have about 70 hp and is not that powerful. i felt it slower with just one passenger besides me. you want to take care of your car and not chance it since your getting about 50 mpg. at 50-55mph. once the engine fries, will cost about 2500-3000 to take out and rebuild it ... hat came first the Metro or the Swift? clones that is 100% sure. anyway, I have sold my 2 door fleet sadly, the 1995 (2 of them), 1996, 1997 and now only have the 1996 Suzuki Swift .My son in law uses it daily, and is slowly beating it to death- does 65 mph in it, slam banging around, denting it in, smashing the windshield with a brick when it got ... take the car to auto zone and ask them to check out the bolt size and see if you can borrow the tool. they do loaner tools. or they can sell you the correct one.
I just bought the above mentioned Geo Metro. It's not running but supposedly it was running like a time until the distributor shredded itself. I want to change the distributor but it takes a star drive tool that I don't know the size of star drive required to remove the bolt. Does anyone know what size star drive I need to get the distributor off the engine? Harris
two 1995's, One 1996, one 1997 and one 1996 Suzuki Swift (Metro twin) all coming to an end as I sell them off to make room for a new Toyota Prius. They have served me well- I wish all of you folks the best with the remaining Geo Metro's that are eft. Maybe someday GM will see fit to re-build with a new Geo line-something like VW did with the Beetle. ... Read More
What state do you live in ? There are many still on the road, and an equal amount in junkyard and re-cycle shops. I have a 1995, a 1996,1997 and a roll over for spare parts(1996) Calif and Canadian emmissions may play into a issue with engine swap outs- as the exhausts systems are different. Suzuki made Suzuki SWIFT which is identical vehicle also. Good luck
I have numerous 2 dr Geo Metros, all but 1 are 4 cyl engines. I want to put a low milage 1995 engine in place of a very tired 1997 engine (hi miles) I'd like to swap engines and trany and shafting as 1 package--does that make sense? How much trouble? Will the wiring harnesses be the same? ALSO interior roof liners, (cloth) has separated on all but 1 of my ... Read More
not knowing what part of the country you are in, makes a difference. Anyway these cars can be fairly durable. It seems that whne they do fall apart it's all at once...or maybe that's just my viewpoint. I have a 1995, a 1997,both 2 dr metro's...the 3rd is a 1996 Suzuki Swift (a Geo clone). I have one rolled over 1996 Geo Metro for parts, and that has saved me a ... Read More
I'm not sure by your definition - body work on my metro - if it is very bad, you will have problem to finish perfect surface for paint. Any bondo, fiberglass, will need lot of sending, priming. I will not waist my time for fix-up. Just drive and enjoy the fuel economy. Look for another Geo before 1995 ( Personally I do not like after 1995 and up) and find perfect ... Read More
I own a 1995,1996, 1997 (2) Geo Metro's...all have composite headlights. That is the clear plastic lenses, not sealed beams. I went to look at 2 Geo Metro's this week, a 1995 and a 1996, both had sealed beam headlight systems.. was the composite headlights a accessory add on? When were they made as a standard feature ?

OH, but you are so wrong! There is a special Califoria emmission manifold. How well I know. I have a 1997 Geo Metro with that exact manifold. And yes, the price quote is near correct- over $900.oo for the ... Read More
I very much doubt it - so far as I know, the Corolla is a 4 cylinder engine; in 1992, the Metro had a 3 cylinder 1000cc engine. It may have changed by 1995, but, so far as I know, the Metro was always built by Suzuki (another Japanese firm). Stan
I am in the market for a vehicle for a teenage daughter. I spoke with a guy who has one for sale 1995 with 145k miles. He stated the Metro has the same motor as the Toyota Corolla. Anyone know if this is true?
Yo guys..and gals...so yeah i just bought a 1989 geo metro hatchback LSi and was wondering if anybody knew the largest size of rims/tires that i could put on my metro before having to install a whole new suspension system. Not to worry!! I thought I killed mine when I did an engine swap on my 91. All you have to do is take off that radiator line, take the one bolt that brackets it onto the engine, then pull it out. It is only held into the water pump with an o-ring. Also, check for rust on the front flange of it, and if it is damaged, you can get ... Read More
Today my 1997 Geo Metro 1.0L was back on the road after a complete engine+5spd R&R. I was able to replace my 1997 motor with a G-10L from Japan. OK, it's been awhile since I've visited this board. I've heard a lot of negative info on the automatics for the Metro. I've had both 5 speed and auto and here's the main difference. The automatic isn't all that bad. True, it will rob the engine some power and gas mileage and make you feel like it needs another gear to shift up to when doing 65 MPH or higher, but ... Read More
I have a 1995 Geo Metro 4 door Sedan. I recently discovered that there was rust on the inside chassis when I went to have my brakes worked on. due to circumstances beyond my control I was unable to replace my Cavalier with a Geo Metro. I purchased a white 1995 Ford Aspire with 75K, cold air, and a 5-speed, for $1300.
