I have the same problem with the charging light. It is exactly as you say, it takes about 20 seconds for it to come on, but after the first (sometimes second) restart it will not come on again ( I can drive hundreds of miles) until the engine is stopped for a while. If I ignore the charging light and do not restart, the car will eventually die for lack of ... Read More

We owned a '91 Previa with 145k miles. back in 2000,We bought a brand new 99 Windstar. The person that we sold the Previa to said that we were making a mistake; he was buying our Previa due to major problems with his 95 windstar. I replaced a pwr window motor on my 96 Windstar so this may help. First, understand removing door panel, weather seal, etc. is a pain but you can do it. It is more than likely your A/C compressor clutch assembly. There are some aftermarket items that will let you run without the A/C but I think that all of them would require removal of the A/C. If you remove the A/C you will have to take it to a shop and they will remove the refrigerant with a machine. They would also be able to put the refrigerant back into your ... Read More

I was told by a Ford tech that they seem to bend when people are going in and out and hanging on the door. I would try it before spending $800

Check engine lights been on about 9 months (I gave up after several unsuccessful attempts by dealer to keep it off) - now I went in to Ford for a power sliding door that opens halfway and stops, then has to be closed manually. While there, I talked them into checking ... Read More
