2014 Ford Taurus Sedan SE 4dr Sedan (3.5L 6cyl 6A)

Review

This is one great cop car .we have Chargers and a new Chevrolet "Caprice" well I always grab the "police Interceptor " keys first (ford does NOT like when you call it a "Taurus" .. Of course we do not have all the "bells & whistles " not even a "aux input jack " or even remote lock/unlock (like the Charger and Chevy ) ..but this car just flies ,and I beat on it every day ..50K so far and NO problems ..It does have the 3.5 Twin Turbo EcoBoost ..

Suggested Improvements

The Headlights (non HID) are bad ..but being in a city ,it's not a big issue for me

2014 Ford Taurus Sedan Limited 4dr Sedan (3.5L 6cyl 6A)

Review

I had to trade the truck that I had for something that was easier to get in and out of due to a back injury. I have had two older Taurus's before and my teenage daughter even has an older one now. I have also had various makes and models of other vehicles over the years, mostly Jeep, Honda, Toyota or Ford. No vehicle even comes close to this baby! Tuxedo Black with black leather, black and aluminum wheels. It is SEXY! There is something also very elegant about it. But I will warn you, even though it is a 4 cylinder engine, (with turbo) it will take off if you press the gas, could get you a ticket if you aren't careful! Love it, pure joy to drive, and turns heads! The color is gorgeous!

Favorite Features

Heated leather seats in front and back, cooled seats, heated steering wheel, remote start, power sunroof, memory seat for two people, push button start, lane assist, back-up assist, navigation, hookup for iPod, AV, Sync system for phone, Push button rear window visor to keep sun out, tinted rear-view for night time driving, Shift drive for automatic to give it the straight drive feel, power windows and mirrors and the list continues! Fully loaded.

Suggested Improvements

Don't change anything! I love this car!!!

2014 Ford Taurus Sedan SEL 4dr Sedan (3.5L 6cyl 6A)

Review

The build quality of the new Ford Taurus is very cheap. If this car is driven for any time at all I can't see it lasting more than 4 years. The paint job is horrible! It will scratch at the slightest touch. The craftsmanship is of very low quality. Ford reverted back to the 70's when they built the Taurus. And, it's a shame because the design of the car is very attractive. I truly regret returning to Ford.

Favorite Features

The design of the car.

Suggested Improvements

It's a shame that Ford didn't use better materials and better craftsmanship. The fit and finish of the car is really shameful.

2014 Ford Taurus Sedan Limited 4dr Sedan (3.5L 6cyl 6A)

Review

Traded in my 09 Buick Enclave for this. As everyone knows, nothing rides like a Buick. I can finally see everything at a 4 way stop. This car has everything for music lovers! My USB port is loaded with over 800 songs. Personalized pictures etc. the technology here is amazing!! Nice highway ride, not as nice as the Buick but I doubled my gas mileage!! Seats are comfortable, handles excellent. Red exterior, Sand interior. What a head turner! Navigation is a little weird but I just send directions to my car from Mapquest. You can somewhat even customize your dashboard and even ask for gas prices and it will come up on your screen!

Favorite Features

Priced right, 8 inch touch screen, personalized music, personalized pictures, heated and cooled seats, good gas mileage

Suggested Improvements

Sync could use some work but I get directions sent to car via Mapquest

2014 Ford Taurus Sedan SEL 4dr Sedan AWD (3.5L 6cyl 6A)

Review

We bought the Taurus SEL AWD V6 after trading our 2010 Escape Limited. Our SEL was upfitted with the 201A package, then they added heated leather, 8 inch touchscreen with voice-activated navigation, moonroof and it was still $5,500 under a Limited. If you don't need the Sony sound and a few other costly and unnecessary options, the upfitted SEL is the better buy. 18" wheels give it a smooth but assertive ride and its a very confident car to drive. The V6 does a great job and surprises you with how well it really pulls consistently from zero to 100+...not neck snapping but very fun. AWD excellent in nasty conditions, very quiet and a great value with incentives and rebates.

Favorite Features

Voice activation for nealy all entertainment, climate control and navigation. Heated seats get hot very quick, all wheel drive system seems very seamless and smooth. Extremely quiet, you'll rarely hear the engine unless you want to. Standard stereo with center IP speaker does a fine job, not stellar but good enough. Read the book or read what the car wants you to ask or state commands, before you now it you'll be a pro at not having to use any buttons. Interior materials look nice, seats feel supportive, trunk is massive! Plenty of power, headlights are bright and effective, LED taillights, turn signals and front bumper trim look clean. Not a race car, but a great driving, solid feeling car.

Suggested Improvements

B pillar is a little big, visibility could be a little better over the hood. HID fog lamps instead of the LED trim would be more useful but not trivial. Center console is a little tall and not much storage room inside but plenty of drink holders. Transmission could shift a little quicker and more smooth at high RPM. Car is heavier than most in its class, but in the harsh winter weather it feels very confident and you stick to the road. Don't buy it if you want a rocket ship, buy the SHO or a V8 sedan instead. It's very consistent and the 290 HP does a fine job.

2014 Ford Taurus Sedan Limited 4dr Sedan (3.5L 6cyl 6A)

Review

2.0 Ecoboost I4. Rated at 32 mpg. Car averages 23-25 mpg highway on premium after 8240 miles. I commute 110 mi/day. Driver assist package is the worst. 15 menu clicks to turn on std cruise control instead of adaptive - defaults to adaptive when the car is shut off. Sony stereo sounds tinny, no bass. Many Sync issues. Can't use it on accessory power. It shuts off automatically and sends a message to start the engine if you want to use the system. Phone doesnt connect consistently after paired. This after new update. Only 2/3 of the heated steering wheel is heated, not the top 1/3. Can't use any climate button on console wearing gloves! Exhaust smell in stop/go traffic sucked in by the heater.

Favorite Features

None really. Poor design and many of the irritating features associated with the driver assist package can't be discerned during standard test drives. Ecoboost 4 cyl drivability OK, but gas mileage is terrible compared to published ratings. Dealer claims recent update should help - nope. 6 speed auto shifts are vague and mushy. I can't rate the car above poor for performance, value, design or fun to drive given the Sync issues' impact on so many functions and the poor fuel economy. Sticker price on this vehicle was $43,070. Paid a little over $40,000. A huge mistake and only time will tell if this becomes a lemon law case. Dealer attempts at correction have failed to produce results.

Suggested Improvements

Ford should kill Sync and use control buttons that work with gloves, heat the entire steering wheel. All driver assist settings should not default to nanny settings every time the car is shut off. I am loyal to Ford, but really hate this car and feel it is poorly engineered and the quality is abysmal.
