Cause they already consider it a FAILURE! I work at a large Ford dealer in conservative affluent NJ Suburbs. Test Drive the Ford Edge, and you will understand why no one is buying the Taurus. looked at Taurus X on frod.com, and I don't think it's and improvement over Freestyle (looks wise). Just not unbland. The taurus-it's still so crazy saying this name- doesn't look great either. I hope you are right and that Mulally is a miracle worker. The reasons I am pessimistic about Ford are several. They need a couple block busters and I cannot see where they will come from. Their moves to turn things around aren't doing much so far. The Fusion is a superior car to the current Malibu, but the Malibu still handily outsells it. The Edge is not s superior ... Read More...

In an evident about-face, Ford has decided to keep Taurus and the Mercury Sable in showrooms through 2009. Earlier reports had these cars moving to fleet-only status at mid-decade to make room for the 2006-model Ford Futura and similar Mercury and Lincoln sedans based on the midsize Mazda 6 platform. Taurus will remain in production through 2009, primarily for fleet and budget minded buyers. Ford Five Hundred debuts for 2005 model year, and Futura debuts for 2006 model year, but Taurus will still be around for a long time. Read More...
