Glad to hear all is well. I may have over-reacted to your post since it sounded somewhat familiar. Still, I suggest you keep an eye on it. Here is the verbiage from Ford's bulletin: ISSUE Some 2009-2011 Edge, MKX, Taurus, Flex, MKS and 2010-2011 MKT vehicles built 3/13/2009-6/30/2010 and equipped with a 6F50 or 6F55 transmissions may intermittently exhibit slipping/neutral out, 5th gear start from stop, electronic PRNDL error, backup camera ... Well I also have a 2007 Acura TL Type S and 2010 Acura TSX Tech. Just traded my TSX for a 2011 Audi S4 340 HP 333 Pd Ft Torque 0-60 in 4.7 DSG Transmission and Qtr Mile in 12.7! Granted this is a 60K car. Now don't get me wrong I love my TL and won't part with it. I think the build quality is superior in every way. Love ... Read More
Maybe. Maybe not. It certainly is a huge step forward for Ford. Terrific engine. It is far more attractive than the 500 based Taurus was. But it is still a FWD chassis with AWD, engineered to be a very tall and heavy sedan with a relatively short 112" wheelbase on a 203+" length. In other words, anything but tidy front and rear overhangs. Here's hoping that with the next iteration, Ford ... Read More
Don't forget that the "all new" 2010 Ford Taurus is about 70% carryover from the 2009 Ford Taurus. They changed the sheet metal and interior, and they modified the suspension. Other than that, it's the same chassis (D9), same motor, same basic suspension, etc. Check out the rapid and incredible depreciation on this gen Ford Taurus. You can get a two year old one for about 13k with under 35k miles. ... Read More
Right now I am currently driving a 2010 Ford Taurus rental car. It's an SEL with leather, sunroof, etc. I'm very impressed with the way this Taurus drives. I never got to drive the 2008-2009 year model Taurus a/k/a Ford 500, so I have no comparisons to make. I did drive a few Taurus rental models from the generation before the 500. I never liked that generation model at all. In ... Read More
The model listed does have the option package which includes Sync. However this car is priced too high. See my post here: ronsmith38, "Article Comments - 2010 Ford Taurus First Drive and Full Test" #11, 20 Jul 2009 8:54 pm
I ordered mine back in Sep 2009 and it took 9 weeks before delivery. Just FYI... It seems ford is not producing these bad boys in mega numbers like before...BTW it;s worth the wait
Toyota Avalon sales Jan. 2010 - 944, down 56% from Jan. 2009.. Chrysler 300 was 1654 vs. 2200 a year ago. Taurus seems to be holding its own against the direct competitors.
Ford did very well in January. Deservedly, they have good cars including the Taurus line. However Taurus was the second lowest ford model in actual sales at 3768 units (only the Lincoln MKsomething did worse). This is up 121% from armageddon January 2009 which is like saying up from almost nothing. I think the price point for the non-SHO models is $3-4K too high and predict rebates, driver loyalty and other ... Read More
For all the naysayers who said that Ford's changes to the Taurus (both stylistically and the manner marketed) would not make a difference in the historically abysmal residuals... http://www.autoblog.com/2009/12/22/ford-brags-about-largest-residual-value-incre- ase-in-industry/
3.5L EcoBoost Turbocharged DOHC V-6 (Ford Taurus SHO) also found in several other FoMoCo products including the Ford Flex. Congratulations Ford!
I have a 2008 Ford Taurus that squeeks loudly going slowly over speed bumps or any bumps for taht matter. When I take it in for servicing I'll bring it to their attention but I'm sure they'll say it's normal even though it shouldn't be normal. Susan
I have a 2009 Mercury Sable Premier FWD with 18" Pirelli' tires and app 4ooo miles and my car makes a "clunk" noise when going over bumps at slow speed. I have taken it back to a local Ford Dealer and they replaced both front struts and also the strut mounts and said that the sound is gone. Obviously they are deaf! So I found this forum and noticed that this ... Read More

Post the a link to a copy of the ad on here. AWD SELs have an invoice of $27,500 and even if you total up all the incentives you only run up to $2,500 dollars in rebates. Most people won't qualify for the $500 early order one or the $500 military bonus or the $500 college grad rebate. Holdback on Fords is 3% of MSRP so 870 bucks or so. That ... Read More
5,077 - up 60% from a year ago. Hard to tell how many of these were 2010 vs. 2009 models but as of today there were no 2009 Tauruses on any of the dealer lots near me and only 2-4 2010 models. We'll have to wait and see what the numbers look like next month but that is encouraging. Overall Ford was down 6% (14% retail). Toyota down 16%, Honda down ... Read More
I won't argue with you on re-sale value. Of course for people who keep their cars 10 years, re-sale value is no concern. Ford put a decent body on and interior in the 2010 Taurus. Everything "under the skin" is the same as 2009. Used 2009 Ford Taurus' with 15,000 miles on the clock are available for half of sticker price today. I'm glad I didn't buy one for $34K last ... I am a Sable (Taurus) owner who considers my 2000 Sable Premium (all needed accessories including sunroof, power everything, climate control, 27 mpg average) to have been a great value @20K. It was already large enough to carry ... Read More
Hello. We at Honda look to make sure that we instill just enough road noise to make you wonder why the hell we don't do anything about our road noise. Pilot, Accord, Civic, Insight & Fit owners will enjoy the lack of sound insulation from noisy tires we provide...now...open the back window and feel the deafening, low frequency wind buffeting your ear drums....ahhhhhhhONDA. Ford is better. Jut drive it.
I come from a Ford family, but have had many a Honda as well as Ford. To be technical, they have to compare them because of the EPA rated "large car" category. However, I do think they are completely different cars and the comparison just doesn't work. The Taurus is HUGE! It certainly feels more upscale. I had a 07 Honda Civic hybrid and couldn't stand the dashboard design. Too fussy... ... Read More
ram88, I think they optioned out the Taurus, and it was still not as good as the Accord, in their opinion. You don't have to agree. If SYNC, and trunk room are important to you, that could sway the decision in favor of the Taurus. They did say the Taurus was the more comfortable long distance cruiser, so that could also be important to some.
If you understand the limitless desire of Americans for personal space, then you understand the thinking behind the 2010 Ford Taurus Limited and 2009 Honda Accord EX-L V6 with Navigation. Taurus and Accord may be iconic midsize-sedan nameplates, but now the badges are on large-car rumps. Comparison Test: 2010 Ford Taurus vs. 2009 Honda Accord
Well a test of a rear drive G37 vs. an AWD SHO is not apples to apples. They should have tested the G37X. Those extra few pounds, the extra cost of the AWD system as well as the parasitic losses of the drivetrain for fuel economy would have evened out the score alot. Not to say that that is the proper car to compare. Really, size for size they should have ... Read More
When Ford announced its all-new 2010 Taurus SHO as a new-generation premium performance sedan, we took it to mean the term literally. So what better yardstick to measure Ford's claim than a current premium performance sedan with a proven record, the 2009 Infiniti G37 Journey? Comparison Test: 2010 Ford Taurus SHO vs. 2009 Infiniti G37 Journey
I see the 2009 Taurus is no longer listed in the car lineup on the Ford Cars home page.
The photos show that the MKS bears a lot more relationship with the 2010 Taurus than the 2009 Taurus. However, it is too bad that the proportions and shapes and lines of the MKS are not actually more like the 2010 Taurus. The MKS added to the front overhang and deleted some cabin space, and for what? It is not an outstanding design--though it is better than the 2009 Taurus/Montego, It ... Read More
Not to jump the gun, but what are some of the better used car buying sites.
I'd get a good estimate before shelling out for a new car! ;)
I am pretty sure I was fully stopped when I put it into reverse, but then I accelerated hard when I was in reverse, but yeah I'm almost positive its transmission problems after looking at it more closely and I might just buy another car.
Hate to say it, but sounds like you definately did transmissin damage. You never shift from drive to reverse when moving. How fast were you going when you shifted into reverse? If less than 10mph, the damage is probably minor. if, however, you were going full speed, then I'd say you're probably looking at a major repair(maybe complete overhall)Don't necessarily take the car to your dealer. Find someone local who specializes ... Read More

I read online that they are going to offer a new engine called eco-boost, and the new Taurus is going to have a SHO option. The new pictures shows a vast improvement over the 2009 Taurus with the inside looking very Accord like. I will definitely consider one when I buy my next car.
This vehicle is updated on Ford's website. Trim levels have been shuffled with a base SE sliding in, and SEL being equipped much like last year's SEL w/Safety and Security package.
I consider the 2008 Mercury Sable (or Ford Taurus) to be a pretty good car. The new Ford CEO has essentially apologized for the "homer simpson" appearance and lack of sportiness and promised that the 2010 version will be a much more attactive and performance oriented vehicle. A different chassis, a different enine, etc. Spy photos have appeared that show a major change. Fine. I wonder how the knowledge that the ... Read More

Not many differences between the 2008 Taurus and Sable. Obviously, exterior styling is different. Here's what I posted earlier: Here are the differences I could find between the base 2008 Taurus (SEL with no options) and the base 2008 Sable: 1) Exterior styling differences that are obvious (grilles, fake side vents on Taurus, none on Sable). I think the Sable has the edge here. 2) The fake wood on the Sable ... Read More

Cause they already consider it a FAILURE! I work at a large Ford dealer in conservative affluent NJ Suburbs. Test Drive the Ford Edge, and you will understand why no one is buying the Taurus. looked at Taurus X on frod.com, and I don't think it's and improvement over Freestyle (looks wise). Just not unbland. The taurus-it's still so crazy saying this name- doesn't look great either. Image wise- I don't want the image of that big bubble top surrounding me! It looks so awkward. Ford was obviously saving it's money for a great redesign to fight 2009 impala/300C. We'll C.
I hope you are right and that Mulally is a miracle worker. The reasons I am pessimistic about Ford are several. They need a couple block busters and I cannot see where they will come from. Their moves to turn things around aren't doing much so far. The Fusion is a superior car to the current Malibu, but the Malibu still handily outsells it. The Edge is not s superior product, ... In an evident about-face, Ford has decided to keep Taurus and the Mercury Sable in showrooms through 2009. Earlier reports had these cars moving to fleet-only status at mid-decade to make room for the 2006-model Ford Futura and similar Mercury and Lincoln sedans based on the midsize Mazda 6 platform. Ford is also about to launch the Five Hundred and Mercury Montego sedans, which are Volvo-based and slightly larger than Taurus/Sable. ... Read More
Taurus will remain in production through 2009, primarily for fleet and budget minded buyers. Ford Five Hundred debuts for 2005 model year, and Futura debuts for 2006 model year, but Taurus will still be around for a long time.
