What Are Your Thoughts on the Return of the Taurus/Sable?
Ford.... one mess after another....
The problem with the 500 wasn't the name, but the creation of a car nobody wants. Ford buyers who want a big boring car are going for the Crown Vic. Ford buyers who want a nice looking family sedan are going for the Fusion. Honda and Toyota have kept their brand names alive through continuous improvement. You know that your 2007 Civic or Accord is going to be a step from ... Read More...

Re: Transmission burping fluid on 2003 Sable [dcollier]
My 1998 Taurus is burping transmission fluid as well. I was told by a Ford dealership that the breather is plugged. A typical problem with this car. I purchased the two items and was told they were easy to replace. That they were on top of the trans can. Now I can't find it. The part # for the breather valve is #YF1Z-7035-AA and the rubber cap #XS4Z-7L282-AA. Anyone ... Read More...
Re: 2003 SES Taurus - New Starter??? [beancounter]
My 2000 SEL bought in June 2000 STILL has the original battery in!! :D I've driven nothing but Fords all of my life starting in 1968 and my experience has been that the original battery has always lasted longer than any other brand that I have gotten since the original, which is six years. I grew up in Cincinnati and am now living in Northern Virginia. Read More...
Re: 2003 SES Taurus - New Starter??? [kevin111]
I replaced the starter on my '00 Sable at 117K in Sep 2004 at a cost of $270 with my local mechanic. No problems since then. Currently have 168K on the car. Regarding batteries, my dad and I have both owned Ford products for yrs, and the original batteries consistently last only 2 to 3 yrs. I live in the mid-west; he lives down south. If yours is still the original battery, ... Read More...
Re: tatchy [sango]
Go to www.carreview.com. I was on there the other night and found that they have over 300 reviews on the Taurus. I always thought that Fords were dependable because my parents had 2 or 3 Crown Victorias that lasted well over 150,000 miles without any problems, but now Im learning better. I have a 2003 Taurus that has 51000 miles on it. The emergency brake went on and ... Read More...
2003 Taurus Air Bag Light flashing code 42
My 2003 Ford taurus is blinking a 4 followed by a 2 code several times than stays on. So assume it's code 42 I checked the horn and cruise and they work so I can assume the slider connection "clock spring is okay". Does anyone have an idea what is causing this fault. I don't have access to the code discription and no work has been done on the car since I got it 2 years ago "no ... Read More...
Re: blower motor [jesse7]
I'm not sure about the 02 sable, but if you own a 2003 Ford Taurus the odds are very good that you already have, or are just about to have your Defrost Blower Motor go out. We noticed a puddle of water on the passenger side floor very soon after we bought the car. It turns out that due to a design defect, water can get into the heater system and ends up on the floor. We took ... Read More...
