Taurus/Sable Starting or Stalling Problems

Stalling at stop lights and almost at highway speeds

I have a 2003 Ford Taurus SES. I purchased it in January and it has recently been stalling when I stop. I hear a whining noise and then the theft light starts blinking, then the speedometer goes hay wire, then it stalls. Sometimes it just stalls when I stop without those indications. It also almost stalls while driving at highway speeds, only sometimes though, when ... Read More...

2003 Ford Taurus stalling when maintaining speed.

I have seen lots of questions about a car stalling when slowing down or speeding up, but my taurus is stalling out when maintaining speed. It sort of stutters, trying to stall. Sometimes it succeeds, sometimes it keeps going. We changed the fuel filter and cleaned the injections. Does anyone know what the problem might be? Read More...

Ford Taurus Fuel Pump

Re: Problem Fixed [kstoecklein]

My 2003 taurus ,once in a great while, would not restart after driving about 30min.then, shutting off for a few min and restarting again. After letting car sit for 15 min it will start just fine. I got some advice from a ford mechanic on Just Ask who said the fuel pump was bad and affected by heating up in its norrnal operation. On restart the "overheat" would not let ... Read More...

Re: Forcing Ford to Recall Taurus/Sable for water leak and AC Blower defect [zeuswon]

2003 Ford Taurus SES- 35000 miles- I reported the problem after I seen my glove compartment leaking water Memorial Day of this year. ( 07) The car was waiting on the Ford place to look at it. Jeff called me & told me it be 375.00 to fix it. I thought about it & called FMC & I told her it was leaking & the Rep put me on hold & came back a few minutes later & said " Jeff would take ... I have a 2003 Taurus, Ford paid 80% of my leak too. If its a factory defect, Ford should have paid 100% in opinion. My extended warranty wouldn't even touch it because of the water defect & damage. Read More...

We own a 2003 Ford Taurus. The lights mounted inside the side mirrors on both doors will not turn off. Is there a fuse specifically for these two lights? Where's the fuse box? Any suggestions? Read More...

Re: Read this, then drive Azera [bruneau1]

I owned a Ford Taurus (Sable). Ford is infamous for the transmissions failing at 75,000 miles and above. That's why they do not have the warranty that Hyundai has. Also, it does not have the quality or safety of the Azera. Both a friend and I owned 2003 Camry's. The quality is no longer there and Toyota was quick to jump on "not covered by warranty." Re: Forcing Ford to Recall Taurus/Sable for water leak and AC Blower defects [williamford]

What does the 03V087000 recall cover? Is the recall fixing the water leak but not the blower motor failure caused by the leak? I am looking at 2003 Sable and I want to make sure this problem can be fixed before I buy. Also, If it's been fixed already how can I be sure it's been fixed right? Thanks Read More...

Ford Taurus/Mercury Sable Wagons

Re: Taurus Reborn [pat]

Interesting... and thanks! It looks like my first post on that topic in this group even beat the first post in that thread... But a Taurus X? I'm sorry, no interest here... My Sable/Taurus history?? My ex-wife and I had bought a 1989 Sable Wagon to replace a totalled Bronco II. Loved it, so we bought a matching 1989 Sable Sedan. I drove the heck out of that '89 Sedan ... Read More...

What Are Your Thoughts on the Return of the Taurus/Sable?

Re: Ford Taurus [heyjewel]

I think Ford should develop a vehicle and call it the "Rant" I don't know what type of vehicle it would be but the name has some charm. Seriously, you make a lot of good points and I think the name change is but a first small step in the right direction with little or no downside. Of course the bottom line is and always has been making cars people want to buy and they bought ... Read More...
