I have a 2003 Ford Taurus with 125K miles. Everything works fine then all of all sudden the car is dead and will not start. No lights, nothing except for theft light blinking. Remote won't work either. I have researched this problem and really haven't found the answer. I have unconnected the battery and reconnected. This does not help. The only thing that works sometimes if I jump the car it ... Read More
I went to the dealer in Sept 2010 and they charged $180.00 for the New torque converter and $70.00 for the pump shaft and $20.00 for a special gasket. The rest was a bunch of labor which involved a lot of flushing with a solvent followed by 30 quarts of Transmission fluid. I recently noticed a puddle of transmission fluid on the ground in early August. I got under my 2003 ... Read More
I too own a 2003 Ford Taurus that all of a sudden quit moving as if it were in neutral in late September 2010 with 146,000 miles. My Ford dealer immediately knew what the most likely cause was before servicing it. Their standard repair is to replace both the Torque Converter and the transmission fluid Pump Shaft, which is driven by the torque converter. Either the shaft binds and then breaks, ... Read More

Strange. I have a 2003 Ford Taurus SES that I purchased in July. Yesterday on the way home from work the engine sounded funny like it was loosing power and then my alternator light came on. I did make it home (a ten minute trip) and it didn't die completely. The only thing that might be causing it is my gas cap is sort of broken and it won't make a ... Read More
I have a 2004 Mercury Sable. It had 47,000 miles on it when the transmission quit working. It did not matter what gear you put it in, it was like it was in neutral. There was no shifting into any gear. I took it to Ford, and $1800.00 later they fixed the torque converter. At the time I questioned them because I knew of others that it had happened to also. ... I have two 2003 Taurus. Both had water leaking into the trunk. I traced my problem and found the culprit to be the five black plastic fasteners which attach the bumper to the car. You have to take off the black plastic cover that surrounds the opening for ... Read More
I'm having this exact same issue with my 2002 Ford Taurus. Driving down the road it will just turn off then back on. Every light on the dash comes on. For me it was a transmission range sensor or neutral safety switch (it's a sensor that sits on top of the transmission that regulates how the car goes into gear and has the gear arm attached to it). I don't know where you're getting your information regarding Jaguar's reliability ratings...but they're dated at a minimum. Yes Jaguar used to be known as the Mechanic's Nightmare...but that was prior to Ford. What Ford has done for Jaguar's quality is nothing short of a full-fledged miracle. Before you wrongly continue to malign this brand's quality image, I'd suggest you spend a little time 'first' reviewing Jaguar's quality ratings at JD Power.com ... Read More

We own a 2003 Ford Taurus. The lights mounted inside the side mirrors on both doors will not turn off. Is there a fuse specifically for these two lights? Where's the fuse box? Any suggestions?
I owned a Ford Taurus (Sable). Ford is infamous for the transmissions failing at 75,000 miles and above. That's why they do not have the warranty that Hyundai has. Also, it does not have the quality or safety of the Azera. Both a friend and I owned 2003 Camry's. The quality is no longer there and Toyota was quick to jump on "not covered by warranty."
What does the 03V087000 recall cover? Is the recall fixing the water leak but not the blower motor failure caused by the leak? I am looking at 2003 Sable and I want to make sure this problem can be fixed before I buy. Also, If it's been fixed already how can I be sure it's been fixed right? Thanks

actually glad to hear that you have had some luck with your Tauri, but, reliability stats don't generally support anything 'superior' ever coming from Ford if you are going to consider the Camry, Altima, and/or Accord benchmarks, which I will grant you probably cost 10-15% or so more. The Ford Taurus automatic transmission has done more harm to the Blue Oval Image than anything since the Pinto. Three sisters in a family I know had each purchased a Ford Taurus. Taurus was "updated" in 2000 model year, which is certainly not that long ago.
