I believe that all the functions you describe are controlled by the Generic Electronic Module (GEM). It is a computer module located under the relay/fuse box which is inside the car on the driver side to the left of the brake pedal. Check that all connectors are attached securely. Having owned both Accord and (old) Taurus, I'd say living with one for a couple months might tilt the deck to the Ford. Most people use cars like this for mundane tasks; commuting, the family trip to the beach, the household runs to Wal-Mart, Home Depot and the grocery store. Hi thom102, I have the same car and the same problem. The mech told me the engine was shot but I don't believe him. I suspected the timing chain also until I realized it had a 'chain' and not a timing BELT. If you find an answer please let me know! i found out i had to get a long neck funnel so i could put transmission fluid in, there is a hole in my line, so i am getting that fixed this morning, hopefully that is all that is wrong with the car, thank you :) Read More...

Its down behind the back right hand side of the engine beside the power steering pipes. Not the best design for the sake of a longer filler pipe and fiderly to get the dip stick back in, for filling you will need the long neck transmission funnel from most auto shops cost about a couple of dollars or less.
