Hello, I have a 2002 Taurus and the cooling fan continues to run after I turn off the ignition. I have changed the relays, changed the fuses and replaced the coolant temperature sensor but the problem persists. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks, -Aaron

I had the same problem with a 2001 Taurus. At first I thought the door wasn't closing right. It turned out to be a bad electrical connection. The (very good) mechanic checked the circuits carried inbto the door within the flexible wiring harness between the door and the body. This takes a lot of beating with use. I believe that all the functions you describe are controlled by the Generic Electronic Module (GEM). It is a computer module located under the relay/fuse box which is inside the car on the driver side to the left of the brake pedal. Check that all connectors are attached securely. Its down behind the back right hand side of the engine beside the power steering pipes. Not the best design for the sake of a longer filler pipe and fiderly to get the dip stick back in, for filling you will need the long neck transmission funnel from most auto shops cost about a couple of dollars or less.

Geez you would think it was the serpentine belt from the way it sounds (your water pump wouldn't turn so it would get hot very quickly, and your alternator wouldn't turn so the light would come on). we also have the same problem with peeling door panels on our 2002 Ford Taurus. I have contacted the Ford Customer Relations via phone, received a case number and have sent a letter to them along with pictures. I have asked Ford to reimburse for the cost of replacement which was done by the dealer to the tune of about $350-400 for each door. Have not heard back yet.

Same problem with my 2002. Filed Complaint No. 10189897 using your reference number. I turn on my heater and smell antifreeze in the passenger compartment. Unless I turn the A/C to "MAX" the system leaks water onto the passenger floor.

One common source is the rear window seal leaking. In this case you will likely have to go to a glass shop to get the gasket replaced or window resealed. One thing I've learned about Fords (and really, cars in general) is that it pays to balance and rotate the tires regularly. If you've been doing that, then perhaps there is a suspension problem. It is probably just water that has condensed out of your airconditioning system. When your AC is operating, it cools the air and condenses water out of the air. This runs onto the ground.

Hi nice hint, I will try it. It is on the front passenger tire, and the level of the coolant reservoir is pretty low.... But I couldn't find the leak so far.... Do you know about some potential places or hot spots where it always leaks? Regards Lukas

Try placing a piece of paper under the leak to determine what fluid is dripping. If it's by the front passenger tire, it could be your coolant since the overflow reservoir is on this side.

Hi does anybody know what this leaking could be. It is for sure not oil, it is more like water. The fluid spot is located on the right side of the car, close to the wheel.
