I have a friend that owns a 2001 Ford Taurus Sedan, and while she was driving the check engine light came on as did the oil light, and the car died and wouldn't start back up... any ideas as to what it might be?
The emissions light in my 2001 Ford Taurus Wagon turned on in September. We took the car to AutoZone to have the code read. The AutoZone guy said it looked like it was a vacuum leak. My son replaced all the vacuum hoses that looked worn and made sure all were hooked up. He also replaced the fuel filter, the air filter, changed the oil and the oil filter. The light ... Read More

so sick of this fuel pump fails again. I heard from a friend that ford made bad fuel pumps for the taurus'. But I've replaced my 4 times already. So done with this. It's too hot outside to have my car not start especially with two toddlers. Any after market or suggestions for a different fuel pump?
Try replacing the Cruise Control Switch. I know a few years ago Ford had recurring problems with the switches across the model lines. I had a 2001 Taurus and the only way to deactivate the Cruise was to hit the brake.
I am wondering the best way to replace a 2001 ford taurus spark plugs? I have done it spark plugs in the past but only on a 4 cylinder. Now I realize that I am talking 6-7 year old designs here but in recent years I have driven sister-in-laws 2001 4 cylinder Camry and brother-in-laws 2000 4 cylinder Accord. I once owned a 97 VW Cabrio with a 2.0L 4 cylinder. The best of the above bunch was the 95 Camry with the very smooth ... Read More
I own a 99 Taurus (SHO) and its been the most solid car I have ever had (knock on wood, cams). The 96+ Taurus' in my experience have been incredibly solid. My brother in law is up around 120k miles on his 97 SHO with NADA an issue. I had a friend who put a combined 170k miles on his 96 and 97 Taurus company cars. Only on the 96 did ... Read More

Well, we've been to Vegas 3 times since then and have rented a car from Hertz at the airport every time. The first two years we had a Pontiac Grand Am and this last year a ... Read More
The squealing noise you hear under the hood, MAY be coming from the belt tensioner pulley. I'm deloyed with the military at this time, so can't look at my 2001 taurus. However, I had that problem on a chrysler product that was driving me nuts. Come to find out the pulley was worn due to all the stress it takes to keep the belt tensioned properly. Changed the pulley, and cured ... Read More
Sorry for not responding to your questions regarding my earlier POST that I made. My work schedule keeps me from doing this type of fun activity. AND I DID NOT COME INTO THIS ROOM TO POST NEGATIVE REMARKS ABOUT FORDS OR THE TAURUS. I just have other things in my life to do, besides sit in this room and monitor Discussions. Anyway....... My first tranny problem occurred at about 4,000 miles. ... Read More
