I am having some problems with my Ford Taurus: (1) My panel on my car as well as my headlights flicker and my battery light flickers too. When the battery light isn't flickering and its on, my panel and highlights come on strong. I too have a 1997 ford taurus and when i go up hills, my car doesn't want to switch gears, I really have to put my foot on the gas inorder for it to give me any pull (on the hill it drops form 30mph to 20mph). And when I go down a hill my car kinda "kicks" or aggressively slips into the next gear of RPM's...is it my transmission? Read More...

I have a 1997 Ford Taurus that is only getting an average of 14 miles to the gallon. I was going to replace the coil, plugs, and wires since the power is really going downhill as well. Do you all recommend that I replace those three items or what should I replace to boost my power and gas mileage? Also when I am idling or just start my car I have to at times rev my engine to ... Having had a 1997 that went over 250,000 miles with 4 transmissions. The Taurus was comfortable car. However just renaming the poor selling "500" is doomed for failure. In order to pull the Taurus back from the dead name pile Ford will have to start fresh with a vehicle that people WANT to buy. Yes I have been thinking of what would cause it to go cold and I don't really have any good ideas. If it were just the heater I might say it was a plugged heater core but if the whole car is going cold it could not be that. First off is your coolant tank full? The Taurus tank has two sections. It is possible that a sharp turn causes one to splash over if it is very low. I guess ... Read More...

Hey everybody i have a 1997 ford taurus that can't get any pull when driving it straight ,But if i am going to make a turn it will get up 40(mph)when turning corners though and if given gas it will only get u to 15-20(mph)all the gears switch fine .Just got front motor mount on ,also have to put the back one on .my main concern is that i find my current problem and try to fix ... I'll bet it IS leaking. My experience is this. I went on a small road trip in my 1997 taurus. I pulled off the highway to get gas an d realized my transmission wasn't working. I got out and it was leaking badly. I managed to get it home stopping every few miles to refill it.
