1991 Ford Taurus 4 Dr L Sedan
Review
We bought this car with 76,000 miles on it. I have had no trouble at all. She runs like a dream. We average about 27 mpg on the road. The only thing I have had to do is change the plugs and oil. It only uses 1/3rd quart oil per 1000 miles.
Favorite Features
Reliability.
Suggested Improvements
Larger front door entrance. My 1987 Honda has more room up front than this car.
Sports Sedan On A Budget
Vehicle
1991 Ford Taurus 4 Dr SHO Sedan
Review
The Taurus SHO is a great car for familys and fun to drive. If you get snow in the winter, it has great traction due to the front wheel drive. It has a nearly bulletproof Yamaha engine, but as for the rest of it, it's a early 90's Ford, and may require some TLC. This car comes loaded from the factory. Usually leather/cloth combination seats, many of them have automatic climate controls and most of the options you would find on today's sport sedans. Don't expect to get one for the $1700 that this site suggests as high end. A '91 SHO in decent shape is probably going to run around $3000 or maybe a little bit more.
Favorite Features
The look of surprise on the face of people who think that they have a quick car when you blow by them. Also, this car runs under the radar for most cops... a sports car looks like a sports car, this car looks like a really nice Taurus family car that just so happens to be very quick.
Suggested Improvements
Finding qualified people to work on this car can be difficult due to the engine type and transmission/transaxle combination. I suggest taking it to a Ford dealer where they usally have someone who at least knows what a SHO is.

91 plus SHO
Vehicle
1991 Ford Taurus 4 Dr SHO Sedan
Review
the 91 plus option is so mean looking, it can kill. the engine is a 3.0 liter yamaha. the 220 hp is nice, and @6800 ft pounds of tq. is quite exciting. mine is the emerald green option which i beleve only 900 were made. i have a mazda transmission, all of which that are on the car is stock. the slicer rims are sleek, and sexy. the car is so fun to drive, fast of course, when road conditions permit. although SHOs do have significant maintenence required, but i beleive it is well worth it.
Favorite Features
my fav. feature is the gen. one slicer rims. the silver looks so nice when passing by a glass building.
Suggested Improvements
some improvement that i would have liked to see would be that the cars accesories could handle the power of the engine.

Good utility car
Vehicle
1991 Ford Taurus 4 Dr GL Wagon
Review
Basically a good car. Hatch lid came from factory misfitted to car and cannot be corrected. Air conditioner and head gaskets replaced at 55,000 miles, but otherwise average on repair.
Favorite Features
Holds plenty of cargo. Very fast on takeoff - plenty of power with the 3.8 engine.
Suggested Improvements
Better ride and gas mileage would be quite an improvement.
One hell of a car...

Review
When it comes to reliability, my '91 Taurus passes with flying colors. Almost 116,000 Miles later, this car still runs like it's brand new. Performance, more than adequete. When you need the highway passing power, it more than accomidates. Don't let it fool you. For being a 3.0L 145 H.P. engine, it's got some punch. The interior can't get much more comfortable. And with plenty of room, This car makes a good highway cruiser. I definitely recommend this car.
Favorite Features
Spacy interior, powerful engine, good looks.

Our last Taurus
Vehicle
1991 Ford Taurus 4 Dr LX Wagon
Review
Overall this is is a very comfortable car and has many nice luxury features. Interior and exterior have held up well, car parked outside mostly. Reliabilty is bad. Bought car with 76,000 miles. Transmision went out at 79,000 miles. Head gasket blew shortly thereafter. Both are known defects for this engine and transmission. Our newest car is now a Saturn. (see review)
Favorite Features
Roomy, comfortable ride. Leather bucket seats with dual electric controls. Leather wrapped steering wheel. Center console shifter. Automatic climate control. Third rear seat. Plenty of hauling capacity.
Suggested Improvements
Reliability of 3.8 V6 engine and transmission. Ford knows these are bad and no longer make the 3.8 V6.

this car has been a gift from my sister.the car has been repaired alot of times since i've had it. The motor and trans. are great, the susp. parts wear out alot, power stearing, and electical. It has been very reliable other than this. All this I think a lot is the fact that its an older veh.
Favorite Features
Its comfortable and drive's good
Suggested Improvements
needs to be easyer to get to parts when working on it.
Don't buy this car

1991 Ford Taurus 4 Dr GL Wagon
Review
We bought this car hoping that it would be a reliable family car, and from the very beginning this car has given us nothing but problems. Every month something goes wrong. We have had to in two years replace just about every major part (minus the transmission) of the car. If you want a car that will run well and be reliable take your money somewhere else. Ford Taurus's are terrible cars. I will never buy a midsize ford again.

This is a good car

1991 Ford Taurus 4 Dr L Sedan
Review
This has been a great car! Sure, it's a stodge-mobile, but the purpose of a car is to get from point A to point B, which this car always does. The A/C is dying, but it's been dying for the past 6 years. I hope my next car is the gem this has been. Some of the design is poor, such as the one piece bumpers which cost an outrageous sum to replace.
Favorite Features
Reliability, stodginess (don't have to worry about anyone stealing the fancy CD player I put into it); gas mileage is great for a V6
Suggested Improvements
Bumpers are one huge piece, which is very expensive to replace.
