2008 Ford Taurus X SEL 4dr Wagon AWD (3.5L 6cyl 6A)
We pruchased used in June 2011, in August 2012 had to replace the water pump which was costly ($2100) due to the location of the pump, making labor cost HIGH!
Then in December 2012 the transmission was replaced, talk about expensive--plus needing to rent a car for the 2 weeks it took to get it back.
Since then, the transmission still is not right, jumping all over--now they are thinking the computer is not working correctly.
So, $6200 spent in 6 mos, now looking at more problems--would definitely NOT recommend!!!
We have had a problem with ours transmission as well.
We began noticing that it would shift really hard not long after we got it.
Ford looked at it and said it was nothing, they just had to reset the transmission (?) but it wasn't long before it was doing it again.
We have put new breaks on it several times, new tires several times, new rotors several times and now there is a major engine problem for the second time.
The first time we took it in for the engine problem the first ford garage told us what was wrong but couldn't do the work so we had to take it to a second garage and they told us nothing was wrong with it and sent us home.
Now it is doing the same thing again only worse.
When this happened the first time I even tried to get Ford involved but they said nothing was wrong with the vehicle even though the first garage mechanic called and told them what they found.
