Follow-Up Test: 2007 Ford Shelby GT500 Convertible
Sounds like it will be a good time. It would be great to see all those Shelby's in one location. I know last summer while I was waiting for mine to be built they were talking possibly of having one at the Ford plant in Flat Rock. Events were to open up the assembly plant and tour their facility and meet some of the people that actually made our Shelby's on ... Read More
That is the most lame excuse I've heard! By "special order" only???? That would be a first for Ford to build a car as a "special order"! The only time Ford will build a "special order" is if you order a minimum of 10 of the exact same vehicles. With the Shelby GT500 being a limited production and every dealer wanting to get as many as they can, there is no ... Read More
Here is a heads up for anyone thinking about getting one of these or thinking about waiting to see if prices drop. Ford said they were going to build between 8k - 9k Shelby GT500 Mustangs for 2007. Then between 8k - 9k for 2008. Well there are 3,762 dealers in the US. I just did a search to see how many of these are out there showing up in dealers ... Read More
I am a sales manager of a Ford Dealership and you would be a fool to give a deposit being 8th in line when they are only getting 2 and have seven people ahead of you. For is not building this car for 2009. It is only a two year production and 2008 will be it! After that they will come out with other models. The Bullitt and the Boss will ... Read More
The car incorporates some things I would do if I had a regular GT: Lowered ride height: Seems OEMs want to go with that "raked" look - so late 70s-early 80's midwest & east-coast where the rear-end was jacked-up in the sky and the front-end in the dirt. The V6s seem especially prone to this. Not knocking the midwest where I'm from or the east coast, I just like it low ... Read More

Demise of SVT? according to Ford's web site, SVT is still around. "Coming summer,2006: The newest Mustang Cobra developed by the Ford Special Vehicle Team (SVT) in collaboration with legendary performance guru Carroll Shelby..." I don't really think Shelby had much to do with the car, Ford already had the power plant, and the body. If memory serves me correctly (correct me if I am wrong) Mustang's went to Shelby American ... You can read about the 2007 Ford Shelby Corbra GT500 on InsideLine - this is a great discussion for our Future Vehicles board, so I'm moving it there.
I was wondering if there was going to be aconvertible for the 2007 Shelby Cobra GT500? I contacted my local SVT dealer and they said that there was not going to be intentional. I don't believe that thou. If you have any information about if there will be a convertible for the cobra or not. I was also wondering when will Ford will let you start ordering the new cobra. If ...
