My security guards all use 05 ford rangers this problem typically happens when the gas tank gets below half a tank the fuel pump begins to weaken out and eventually over heat and fail. it might be pricey to always fill the tank before half but it beats cost repairs of mechanics. btw our trucks are well over 100k so i wouldnt doubt my mechanics cause that does make sense
I have a 1999 Ford ranger with the 60/40 seat, the drivers side is in rough shape as far as the reclining ability goes, the fabric is good, is there any way to fix it so i can actually adjust it and not pull the "low rider" Bs that i have been for a couple of days, any advice would greatly help!
i have a 1999 ford ranger, and had this problem, i went to the parts store and the guy tried to get me to buy a sensor, i was then going to adjust the latch the door hooks onto, instead i heard about WD40 working, i shot it in there and sure enough it worked like a champ, no problems since!

My 1999 Ford Ranger with 3.0 flex fuel engine has 4 wheel ABS with drums in the back. I want to flush out the system and replace the brake fluid. The technical manual says that a couple special tools are needed in order to bleed the ABS system so that air does not become trapped. Does anyone have experience with this, and know where I can get the special tools?
Did Ford program all the Rangers to have this exact same problem at the same time?? Anybody figured it out yet? Could it be a clogged heater core? I don't think my 1999 Ranger has a bypass. If the heater core gets clogged, would that cause this weird problem with the guage, overflow tank, and cold/hot heating? HELP!!!!
Hey there; I bought myself a 1999 Ford Ranger XLT (2 wheel, 6cyl, A/C, pwr windows, manual trans) about a year ago. ford had a class action lawsuit in california. there is an electronic part near the distributor on many ford vehicles from at least the 1980's through around 2000. when it gets overheated the circuit shorts and causes the engine to die. After it cools down the circuit is complete and vehicle runs again. The part is inexpensive.
Own a 1999 Ford Ranger. Front Parking Lights come on with head lights. Back parking lights do not. Same when parking lights are turned on. The turn signals do not work at all. Checked the bulbs,OK. K&N is a fussier filter. I used to run them on carburetter engines. It's more likely that the sensor was contaminated with K&N oil. That causes it to give a false reading. I read that aerosol solvents can be used to attempt to correct this. I think liquid ether (quick start) was suggested. Be careful with ether, it's highly flammable and not particularly good for the piston rings if over used. ... Read More
K&N is not a bad filter. It's just that many think that some oil is good and more oil is better when oiling it after a cleaning. Most of the problems are cause by excess oil. That said I've removed the K&N filters out of all my vehicles as they have shown no sign of improving over stock.

well, i finally did just check it out. i find it amusing that pluto tried to claim it as his, when smgilles posted it here and the other forum us close edmunds forum users use. "look what i just found". hehe anyways, ok, that's a good argument for you toyota guys. good points. but, stang is right. that argument or article really doesn't represent the whole buying public. surveys don't mean ... akweiland--->Talk to a edmunds user named "smgilles", he has a supercharged Taco, not sure if it's 4x4 or what year exactly, but he may have a timeslip. pluto--->You didn't find that, it's smgilles find. All re: that link--->I'm curious about the methodology of that link. I wonder why you don't see any Tundra's in there at all? Also answer this question seriously, if consumer A owned a vehicle with no problems, ... Read More
Yea the rangers that I had listed where old I should of say that, but the point is they are still rangers. The rangers where built by the same company that built the ranger you had. Also how about the 99 Ranger on their that Rebecca had? Here is what she had to say. "Rebecca of Bessemer, AL, writes: My 1999 Ford Ranger's windows fog up and it is hard to ... Read More
stang's words: "Any make gives you the option of purchasing options, hence the name, options." Well, although any make gives you options, only Toyota gives you the options of lockers, superchargers and what's been acclaimed the best off-road suspension, which is what performance enthusiasts want. "I guess a clock in the radio is too much to ask, too. At least in a Ranger you can read the time without moving your ... Read More
In February of this year I purchased a 1999 Ranger XLT extended cab with a manual transmission. I loved the look of the truck and bought it even though the shifting seemed a bit "notchy" in the lower gears when I went for a test drive. I thought that it would just take awhile to get used to the new shifting mechanism and the RPMs required to synchronize, but it is ... Read More
I purchased a 1999 Ford Ranger XCAB about a month ago from a small dealership in TN. After couple of days driving I noticed the truck makes constant pinging and knocking upon acceleration. It happens only when truck is in gear ( this is a 5 spd tran. with only 30K miles) and accelerating. There is a constant banging that is felt through the gas and clutch padels as something were ... I have a 1999 Ranger 4 door 2WD with the 3.0V6 and automatic transmission. The truck has just over 40k on it, which puts it out of warranty. I recently noticed a small oil leak, and asked my favorite local repair shop (a Goodyear ASC) to take a look at it while the truck was in for an oil change last week. They inform me that the leak is coming from ... Read More
"Hey folks with stalling Rangers. I just had this happen to my 1999 Ranger XLT with 29,000 miles. I have been driving the car exactly the same way I always have since I purchased the truck used, but on Friday it died twice while I was slowing for a light in neutral. The air conditioner was on once, but not the second time. I noticed that no one seems to have ... Read More

I had my tranny worked on back in 1999 for the ball bearings. They had it for about 2 weeks once I got it back I noticed that I was sticking in 1st and 2nd gears on the truck. The Ford house told me it was normal and it would evently wear off. Now in 2001 I have a medal to medal sound when shifting and using the clutch. This truck ... Read More
