    1999 Ford ranger 4x4, four lt engine. pump running,checked relay,recent tune up. remote start disconnected, but theft light still flashes and think it is factory.

    My security guards all use 05 ford rangers this problem typically happens when the gas tank gets below half a tank the fuel pump begins to weaken out and eventually over heat and fail. it might be pricey to always fill the tank before half but it beats cost repairs of mechanics. btw our trucks are well over 100k so i wouldnt doubt my mechanics cause that does make sense

    I have a 1999 Ford ranger with the 60/40 seat, the drivers side is in rough shape as far as the reclining ability goes, the fabric is good, is there any way to fix it so i can actually adjust it and not pull the "low rider" Bs that i have been for a couple of days, any advice would greatly help!

    i have a 1999 ford ranger, and had this problem, i went to the parts store and the guy tried to get me to buy a sensor, i was then going to adjust the latch the door hooks onto, instead i heard about WD40 working, i shot it in there and sure enough it worked like a champ, no problems since!

    My 1999 Ford Ranger with 3.0 flex fuel engine has 4 wheel ABS with drums in the back. I want to flush out the system and replace the brake fluid. The technical manual says that a couple special tools are needed in order to bleed the ABS system so that air does not become trapped. Does anyone have experience with this, and know where I can get the special tools?

    Did Ford program all the Rangers to have this exact same problem at the same time?? Anybody figured it out yet? Could it be a clogged heater core? I don't think my 1999 Ranger has a bypass. If the heater core gets clogged, would that cause this weird problem with the guage, overflow tank, and cold/hot heating? HELP!!!!

    ford had a class action lawsuit in california. there is an electronic part near the distributor on many ford vehicles from at least the 1980's through around 2000. when it gets overheated the circuit shorts and causes the engine to die. After it cools down the circuit is complete and vehicle runs again. The part is inexpensive.

    Use Ford factory replacement parts as much as possible, wires, plugs (it has wires), air and oil filters. All after market parts are substandard from a factory specs perspective and long term, will not outperform the factory parts. But other than a good fuel rail flush, that's all you should need to do.

    K&N is a fussier filter. I used to run them on carburetter engines. It's more likely that the sensor was contaminated with K&N oil. That causes it to give a false reading. I read that aerosol solvents can be used to attempt to correct this. I think liquid ether (quick start) was suggested. Be careful with ether, it's highly flammable and not particularly good for the piston rings if over used. ... Read More

    K&N is not a bad filter. It's just that many think that some oil is good and more oil is better when oiling it after a cleaning. Most of the problems are cause by excess oil. That said I've removed the K&N filters out of all my vehicles as they have shown no sign of improving over stock.

    I have a similar problem with my 1999 Ford Ranger. It is also a 6 cyl. Currently it is in the shop and the mechanic says the problem is electrical short. They checked air/fuel/ignition systems and they all checked out ok. Currently, they are checking wiring harnesses for shorts. I hope this helps.

    The ping is actually pre-ignition. It happens when the cylinder and combustion portion of the head is very hot. When the timing and mixture is set correctly, the ping should go away.     The sensor for ABS in the rear differential causes such symptoms. If you just want to throw parts at the problem without have the codes checked, which you said are being set, them replace this sensor. It's pretty easy to replace.

    1999 Ford Ranger oil pressure dropped to zero and the engine died. Only 50,000 miles on it and well cared for. Over $4,000 to fix. Was wondering if this problem is common enough that a recall was issued or maybe one should be.

    never mind i figured it out. There are 3 bolts on the front of the bracket. Only one of these are obvious the other 2 are recessed behind the belt tensioner and you have to feel around with your fingers to find these. There are also 2 on the bottom that are double nutted.     having same problem with 1999 Ford Ranger. Have you found a solution. Any appreciated. According to manual the sensor is located in the tail shaft. However where sensor should be is plugged off.(Trans type 4R44E)

    1)Do all the 2003 ranger 4x4s have the new 4" alum driveshafts that are replacing the vibrating steel ones? 2)what kind of gas mileage does the 4.0L 4x4, 4.10 rear get?
