4Runner will get the new setup first in 2003. Tacoma is due to get it in 2004 (3.7L V6, possibly 4.7L Tundra engine). As for beating Ranger: Lets put it this way: 3.4L ruled since 1995.5 until 2001, when Ford finally put out an engine thats not a joke (waiting for tbunder to start talking about how old 4.0L had more torque. While you are at it, don't forget to mention ... Read More

Because there are two different agencies that perform 2 different tests, Ranger people pick the worst ones and call them the truth. Of course, Tacoma people pick the best ones and call them the truth. And since neither party can convince the other one why one test is better than another (I still think offset crash tests are more real-life), the arguement is here to stay. What Ranger fans call "great ... Read More

At this point I don't even know why I'm wasting my time with you. Honestly. Toyota's 3.4 has been around since 1995. This engine is 7 years old and produces 190 horses and 220 lb/ft torque. Before Ford updated their 4.0, this engine made 160 horses and 220 lb/ft torque (SAME AS TACOMA) as well - pretty pitiful considering its .6 litre displacement advantage. So for the past 6 years, before ... Read More

Barlitz, Ford has been around for a little bit longer than Toyota, especially in this country. What does it prove that to say that they are the best selling trucks? This has been the case for many years. Does it change the fact that Toyota and Honda vehicles are imminently more reliable? Vince8, if you bothered to read any of the numbers, you will see that I stated that the new ... Read More

  • Why a Ranger?

List price, top of the line Ranger 4x4 extended cab -- around $23K. List price, top of the line Toyota Tacoma 4x4 extended cab -- around $28K. Of course that's not all of the cost involved. The Ranger, for example, would need serious cash investment (another $2-3K worth), such as new tires, new wheels, airlockers for the differentials, etc. to make it a serious off-road machine, while the Tacoma is a ...
