Great used car
Vehicle
1990 Ford Probe 2 Dr LX Hatchback
Review
After reading others' experiences I went ahead and bought my 90 with 147K on it, and have added another 9K. Replaced plugs, wires, dist cap/rotor, front brakes (cheap!). Timing belt blew, but I should have changed it; no valve damage. Amazingly reliable and inexpensive; previous owner and I both use Mobil 1 oil. Best car buy I'ceever made.
Favorite Features
Cruise control and A/C work great; fuel economy is unreal; can actuallt take a nap with folddown rear seats!
Suggested Improvements
Nothing. I expected the car to be slow, and it is, but with headlamps down and cruise control set at 55 MPH, I can get 40 MPG.

I've had this car for 10 years and never have been stranded or needed to make repairs on the road. Currently, I use it for a commuting and with some tweaking and care I'm able to get 34 mpg.
Favorite Features
*Leg and head room (I'm 6'3") *Comfortable seats *The reliability
Suggested Improvements
The vehicle, when made, was a electronic marvel with electric everything. Which can make some repairs rather time consuming if you don't know how to read a schematic.
A '90 Ford Probe was my first car.......

I bought a 1990 Ford Probe from a family member, but they failed to tell me the car had a few glitches...so as time went on, I had to put in a brand new radiator, I fixed the A/C so now it is working and gives cold air, and heat. I tinted the windows-which gave it a nice look. New tires were also added. And a few other things. But once I had fixed most of the major problems, it was smooth running from then on. Right now I am in the process of selling my Probe. The car has been reliable, I can say it has never left me anywhere, but a car like that needs to be well taken care of.
Favorite Features
I loved the fact that my Probe was fast, and it was only 4 cylinders. I loved the look, and the body of the car.
Suggested Improvements
A 2 door Probe, isn't exactly comfortable getting people in the back seat or getting them out. It was pretty small back there.

Well Built

I've had this car for almost 12 years and it has been great. This morning when I pulled in to work the odomoter read 352,211 miles. Unfortunately, the original engine only lasted 330,000 miles. Darn!!! I've never been standed and from the day I bought it used, it has always started on the first crank. This car has been an absolute joy to have. Kudos to Ford and Mazda.
Favorite Features
The roomy interior, Realibility, Handling, Trunk space, Head room, and Maintainability.
Suggested Improvements
Improve the rack and pinion. I've had to replace it twice but I can't complain with 300,000+ miles on the car.
Great going to work vehicle, but not kid

This vehicle was given to me last year, the only thing is that it burns oil a bit, but otherwise nice. Not for using with kids, only 2 seat belts in back, and a PAIN to get car seats in. GREAT for what it was given to me for. Back and forth to work and to run small errands (by yourself that is! :-) )
Favorite Features
Nice ride, fun to drive!

NO auto seatbelts!!

I bought this car in 1992 from a dealership, figuring I'd drive it a year or two and then update.... but I loved it from Day One... now I'm at 160,000 and still going strong!! I love this car, and hope it makes it another 40,000! I've only ever done routine fixes.... new starter, new brakes, etc.
Favorite Features
Great Acelleration, longevity, and reliability!
Suggested Improvements
Electrical system has weird moments.... but never anything big.
My first car

In being my first car I don't have much to compare it too since I still have it, but he sure is a fast little guy. I love flying around in downtown Lansing, taking corners fast enough to glue my friends to the windows.
Favorite Features
electric mirrors, the fact that I can fit my mountain bike in it all the way and close the hatchback easily, and it's wonderful acceleration.
Suggested Improvements
When I had my backseat drivers side window smashed in by some idiot the cost to replace it was $5000! Thank God for salvage yards!

225,000 and still going. One owner. Has its wear and tear, but the Mazda made engine is relentlessly rugged. The Ford body and interior and electrical had some issues. But this car has gone far beyond the call of duty. I may be donating it within a week or two....looking at the used mid to upper end market now....maybe something with a Mazda engine.
Favorite Features
The engine! the brakes, deceptively smooth acceleration, and never had to replace the clutch....a freak of nature car.
Suggested Improvements
Body integrity and electrical...but all is moot....maybe it'll make a comeback on the scene some day to take on the Eclipse and challenge the Mustang again.
