Check TSB 11-11-11 for cars built before 12/20/2010. It's for the delayed engagement & also 2-3 & 4-5 upshift problems and requires replacement of 3 shift solenoids plus some other parts. It also affects some F-150s. Unfortunately, the required parts are not available anywhere in the Ford system as of mid-Dec 2011. The dealership is "referred to vendor" but nobody can tell us when the parts will be available. Yes, I ... Read More
Bought 2011 V6 Convertible Premium from No. In. dealer in April of 2010. one of first on market,(turns out it was a demo, but that is another story) all black, beautiful car. Paid $995.00 extra for six speed trans. You would think a 75 year old would know better than buy a first year anything! Now the bad news. Let car sit in garage a couple days. Start engine shift into ... Read More
The very positive reviews of the new V-6 2011 Mustang have both surprised and delighted me. My last Ford was a Sunliner with the 312-inch TB Special V-8. Does the new V-6 get a new (and hopefully improved) 6M transmission? My current 6M (out of Marysville, OH) is damn near flawless (with a GMSFM assist), but planning ahead won't hurt. all the best, ez....
I really think this BOS is the Bomb and after reading a couple reviews and a little about its history, I decided to check it out while getting my 2010 GT serviced at a local dealership here in Irvine. Looks like a regular stang as one approaches. They had it marked up like 20Gs. LOL, and wouldn't even allow a test drive. Pathetic. Sat in it tho. I like the seats ... Read More
Hi billybobjones. The problem is that in most areas Ford is not currently providing lease support on the 2010 Mustang. As a result, if you were to lease this car through Ford Credit, you would have to use its standard lease rates...which as you have seen are absolutely terrible. If you want to lease, the Mustang probably isn't for you. Having said that, you may want to wait until tomorrow before ... Read More
I would hope you would just take it to the dealer where you purchased it since you can reproduce the problem. Just don't let them give you a line of B.S. You have a serious problem that could be dangerous. It's up to them to figure out what the cause is. I have an '07 GT/CS with only minor transmission problem (shifting is not as smooth as I would like) but ... Read More
This is a continuation of post #97. After taking the car out for a drive again, I tried to recreate the original shifting problem again. After start up, the transmission shifted fine through all 5 gears but I only ran it up to 2800 rpm before shifting. Then from a dead stop, I took it up to about 4500 rpm in first, then 4500 rpm in second, then could not shift ... Read More
For $33k, a decent transmission should be a no brainer. I am on the fence for a 2011 V-6 6M.....................hope the new transmission is trouble free. My Dad told me never to buy the first new model year. Maybe he has a point. ez....
Hi runnernic. Ford is not currently providing any lease support on the 2011 or 2010 Mustang. As a result, if you were to lease one through Ford Credit right now, you would have to use its standard lease program...which is pretty bad. If you want to lease, the Mustang probably isn't for you. If I was in the market for one right now, I personally would finance a 2010 Mustang GT ... Read More
I bought a 2010 Mustang GT a few months ago and have only about 1600 miles on it. I always thought it was a little hard to shift, but the other day I had a hell of a time getting it out of 4th gear. Then it was hard to shift back into any gear. I have owned many different manual shift cars, including a different GT and a Cobra and ... Read More
I bought a new 2006 Ford Mustang GT, haven't had anything go wrong with it (except the battery, which was still under warranty) in the five years and 65k I've owned it. I think this is a great car. If I had a choice, I might go for the 2010, heard it's got more hp than the 2006 GT with only a V6 and better mileage. I think Ford's really come ... Read More
Video takes too long to load and stalls briefly. There are many other videos on the net of the car. Own and am perfectly happy with an '05 GT Premium. Can't wait to try out the new 5.0 tho. Supposed to be available sometime in May or June. Only major option I would add to the new GT premium is the Bembro brake package, but would love to test drive both ... Read More
At this point, I just don't think the car is safe anylonger. So Ford customer relations had me drive around this weekend with a "flight recorder" (some sort of recorder attatched to the car's CPU with cables all over the place), in hopes of catching this event on tape so to speak. I was a bit annoyed that they'd require me to test the car risking my family's safety. I reluctantly ... Read More
Also, I'd imagine that a minor frontal collission (at slow speeds), which would injur but not necessarilly kill a passenger without a seat belt and no airbag, could be fatal with no seat belt but with an airbag. This is because an air bag expands quite fast with alot of force..so instead of hitting the dashboard at say 15 or 20 mi/hr, you can end up hitting an air bag at ... Read More
I don't think they work as well with unbelted passengers because if you are unbelted you can slide under the bag. With just the belt on, people were still sustaining serious injuries because they could still contact hard parts in front of them.
Notice that it doesn't say whether the passengers were belted or not. Obviously they can be lifesavers for unbelted passengers. I'd like to see the same statistics looking only at belted occupants before any conclusions are drawn. Again, I'm not against them - if for no other reason than to protect passengers who refuse or forget to buckle up. Just making an obversation.
akirby, There is no need to wonder. Empirical evidence answers your questions. Passenger airbags are life savers. Equally important to driver air bags. It took less than 15 seconds to find this information on the internet. Google is our friend. "FATALITY REDUCTION - PASSENGER AIR BAGS - CAR PASSENGERS AGE 13 OR OLDER Passenger air bags in cars are effective for right-front occupants age 13 or older in purely frontal crashes. ... Read More
Sounds like you need a new dealer. If you can reproduce it then it should be cut and dried to get the sensor replaced. And while I agree with airbags in general and especially for the driver, I question the effectiveness of passenger airbags for passengers who are properly belted in. Airbags were originally developed because people wouldn't wear seatbelts. I'm thinking if the crash is bad enough for the passenger ... Read More
I'm starting to get cheesed off at my dealership who can't reproduce the problem described in title. I brought my wife to the dealership this morning to demonstrate to the service rep, and he turned me away claimming that I have to talk to the manager first. ?? I called the manager twice today..seems he's out today. Why do I need the manager to see the problem..wouldn't it be enough to ... Read More
I own a 2010 Mustang GT, and put 8000 miles on'er. My girl has a 2005 Ford Focus, ..she's put over 105,000mi on it. Other than the Stang's passenger seat belt light comming on all the time, and the Focus's squeaky breaks..I'd say they're solid cars. I can't say about the 2005 Stang, but mine feels strong and reliable so far and I ride'r hard pretty much every single day. Now, ... Read More
Yeah the engine video cuts out on this site. I think in the full video it goes to 7000, or near enough. I actually think the 4.6 (from 2010) sounds better from the outside. The 5.0 sounds bigger, yes, but it has a mellower tone, more growl than bark. Like the Challenger. I think I'd get new exhaust if I bought a 2011 GT.
I have not heard recently of Ford leasing Mustangs. Curious to where you got your credit score from since the high end of the FICO range ends at 850.
For some strange reason, Ford doesn't lease mustangs right now. You could always try a 3rd party (bank, etc).
If the $27K the out the door price that's not to bad. I would buy it if i were you. I personally like the 05-09 better than the new style 2010. I paid 28.3 for my 06 out the door and it doesn't have a glass roof which i like. I think they people at ford missed a golden opportunity to use other retro traits from the past on the new ... cares?? I'm pissed and excited at the same time! I just got my 2010 GT and have invested about $2200 in handling mods. Regardless; if the 5.0 comes out, I don't think I'd be able to resist trading my car in for long. By the way, the next generation 3 series will be comming out shortly after the 5.0. For me, these will be really fun comparing (and test driving ). ... Read More
I'm not convinced that passenger airbags are all that useful if the passenger is wearing a seatbelt. That said, I understand your concern. Next time it happens, try switching seats (without turning the car off) and see what happens. If it stays deactivated then it's a bad sensor. If it only deactivates with your wife, try adding some weight (5 or 10 lbs at a time) until it changes. If you ... Read More
It's consistant. Whenever my wife is in the passenger seat of my 2010 Ford Mustang GT, invariably, everytime without question, the fking passenger airbag is off signal pops up after we've been driving for a few minutes. I got my 2010 Mustang GT some time in September of 09, and pretty much from day one, there seemed to be an intermittent issue with the trunk latch mechanism. About one out of five times, while opening the trunk using key button, I get a weird somewhat loud vibration sound (coming from the trunk latch/solenoid mechanism) instead of a typical single thunk that usually happens when it works correctly. M-2005-FR3 Handling Package http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=8976 The car should come stock with FR3 IMO. I hope this helps alot of folks out there thinking of upgrading their Stang's suspension. And I can tell you, stock suspension not only sucks..I'd say it's a bit dangerous. A stock 2010 Mustang GT rides high, ridiculously high which I guess relieves any concerns about rubbing bumpers on high curbs but such a setup also seriously compromises handling. ... Read More
Ford will be releasing a 315 hp V6 3.7L and a 400 hp 5.0L for the 2011 model year (by next summer). With a 400 lb weight advantage it will blow away the heavier camaro and challenger.
When you look at the dodge and chevy come back to muscle cars, there goes Mustang with all the good ideas but no power to back it up. It can even come close to the power of the Camaro v 6 engine when it should be blowing it away being so much lighter. Why Ford does not come out with a 427 version is beyond me? Quit playing around and make ... Read More
The 2009, when I purchased my Challenger, the 2010 Mustang wasn't available. The Camaro was just ramping up. So I only had the Camaro and the 09 Mustang to compare to. As for the Challenger interior, ... Read More

Is the 5.0L V8 a real deal or just a rumor? Just curious why Ford would give the Mustang a new face for 2010 model and not the new engine. Thanks in advance to anyone with accurate info.
2010 Ford Mustang GT Full Test and Video
When we last left the 2009 Nissan 370Z, it had just laid a drubbing on BMW's little 135i. We then proclaimed, "The 2009 Nissan 370Z raises the standard for the sport coupe segment to a new level of affordable excellence." 2010 Ford Mustang GT vs. 2009 Nissan 370Z
I am not a muscle car fan by any stretch of the imagination. Not only do I not appreciate the horrible gas mileage they get, but the lack of sophistication and resulting image they project is also not to my liking. That being said I think this new Mustang looks very good. It has a modern look to it now, but it's still recognizable as a Mustang. The optional 19" wheels ... Read More
The new 2010 Mustang is gettting great writeups & reviews. It seems that some of the interior shortcomings of the current car have been addressed & with the '09 Bullitt suspension standard on every GT, maybe FORD really isn't in trouble. I can't wait to see the 2010 Mustang at the NY Auto Show.
2010 Ford Mustang First Drive & Video
Hey, at least we can afford the fuel for these beasts now! $1.50 a gallon, happy days are here again!
Remember when we were all talking about the return of the muscle-car wars? You know, the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro, 2009 Dodge Challenger and 2010 Ford Mustang locked in a V8-powered, testosterone-saturated, mustache-stroking, smack-talking, bitch-slappin', patch-laying death match? That was great. Good times. Way better than the housing/financial/automotive apocalypse that's now upon us. 2010 Ford Mustang First Look
The current model Mustang was supposed to be styled after the first generation. From what Ford has posted on the '10 model, it looks like it's going to be styled after the late-'60s Mustangs. I can't wait to see the whole thing. These teaser photos are too much of a tease.
Ford's teaser photos of the 2010 Mustang hint at a restyled front end (looks like there's going to be more front overhang and modified headlamp housings) and sides (looks like they've introduced a "shoulder" behind the door similar to the Challenger, added body colored paint to the mirrors, and sharpened the almost-invisible crease intersecting the door handle). The inside looks relatively unchanged (maybe tweaked gauges?). I can't wait for them to ... Read More

I love it! Ford "FINALLY" put a damn side scoop and a hood scoop on the car. The new Mustang needed side scoops and a hood scoop badly. It looked "LAME" without them. I also like the side stripes and the Bullitt wheels. Maybe Ford will get it right with the next new 2009/2010 Mustang body design. Or maybe not.
The new 2005 & 2006 Mustang V6's and GT's have many problems. The biggest problem being the gas tank issue, the shifting problems and the front end noises and rattles. I own a 2001 Mustang GT and a 2002 V6 Mustang and I don't have these problems that the new 2005 and 2006 Mustangs have. I am glad that I don't own a 2005 or a 2006 Mustang. I love the ... Read More
1 - I'd expect a "freshening" in 2007 with a possible major rework in 2010 based on recent comments from Ford. No way to really tell for sure though. 2 - Paint is the best type of racing stripe. The new vinyls are really good and with clearcoat paint fade isn't really a big problem, but it is possible. 3 - not likely to be a factory option.
"I personally don't think we'll see the Duratec35 in the Mustang until a mid-cycle refresh. Given Ford's new refresh strategy that will probably be somewhere around 2008-2010." I agree, but for a different reason. Ford has no need to offer any real improvements of this nature to a car which is already selling, and will continue to sell, as well as the Mustang. However, other cars in their lineup DO need ... Read More
I know it's underrated at 300 but that's still what most shoppers see. You, I, and other enthusiasts know the real story. I personally don't think we'll see the ... Read More
Most people associate midlife crisis with a sports car. For my dad its been quite the opposite, he never needed a family sedan to begin with.
